Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) of 15 commercially relevant biobased and biodegradable polyesters were experimentally determined by applying a novel approach to the classic solubility study method. In this approach, the extent of swelling in polymer films was determined using a simple equation based on the mass difference between swollen and nonswollen film samples to obtain normalized solvent uptake (). Using and HSPiP software, highly accurate HSP values were obtained for all 15 polyesters.

Article Synopsis
  • Computer use among older adults is increasing, and examining how they use computers can help detect changes in cognitive functions over time.
  • To identify which specific computer-use behaviours indicate declines in cognitive abilities, a group of six experts from clinical and cognitive neuroscience conducted workshops and surveys.
  • They created a list of 21 computer-use behaviours that are strong indicators of cognitive decline in areas like Memory, Executive function, Language, and Perception and Action, allowing for targeted research in this field.

Two studies summarize the development and initial validation of the Multicultural Personality Inventory (MPI). In Study 1, the 115-item prototype MPI was administered to 415 university students where exploratory factor analysis resulted in a 70-item, 7-factor model. In Study 2, the 70-item MPI and theoretically related companion instruments were administered to a multisite sample of 576 university students.

Social Stories are an extensively used intervention to address behaviour difficulties of children on the autistic spectrum. This article summarizes what Social Stories are and sets out to determine whether there is any relevant literature demonstrating the effectiveness of this intervention. Whilst the existing literature suggests positive findings with respect to the effectiveness of Social Stories, there is considerable variability in the quality of research methodology, with no single study employing comprehensive, stringent standards.
