Background: The goal of this study is to determine whether harvested cartilage from an osteochondral loose body maintains the same viability for implantation as cartilage harvested from the traditional locations within the adolescent knee for autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI).
Methods: A retrospective study was performed on all ACI procedures performed from 2014 to 2017 at a single institution. Biopsies were derived from 2 groups: osteochondral loose body verses the intercondylar notch.
Background: Shoulder arthroplasty is a common orthopedic procedure, performed historically in the inpatient setting. However, interest in same-day discharge has increased. We sought to evaluate 90-day readmission, 90-day emergency department (ED) visit, 90-day deep infection, 90-day venous thromboembolism (VTE), and 1-year mortality after same-day shoulder arthroplasty compared with an inpatient stay.

Yet, there have been limited data on the failure rates of arthroscopic shoulder stabilization in this population as well as the potential risk factors.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to determine the failure rates of adolescent patients who underwent arthroscopic labral reconstruction for traumatic anterior shoulder instability.
Background: Treatment for shoulder instability has changed significantly over the past decade from open procedures to arthroscopic procedures using a variety of different fixation methods and implants. The development of these implants has been highly influenced by the numerous complications that have arisen using early designs.
Methods: A review of the literature was performed to describe the history of shoulder stabilization.
Background: All-suture anchors used in arthroscopic shoulder stabilization employ small diameter anchors, which allow greater placement density on narrow surfaces such as the glenoid. There is no consensus in the literature about how close to one another two anchors may be implanted.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study is to compare the strength characteristics of two all-suture anchors placed in cadaveric human glenoid at variable distances to one another, in order to determine the minimum distance required for optimal strength.
Total elbow arthroplasty is the current gold standard of treatment for unreconstructable distal humerus fractures; however, longevity of the implant remains a concern in younger, more active patients. Distal humerus hemiarthroplasty offers an alternative and may allow for more durable results. The authors retrospectively evaluated the short-term clinical outcomes of 10 patients who underwent elbow hemiarthroplasty for distal humerus fractures.

Background: The impact of hip arthroscopy on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among younger patients with symptomatic femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is unknown, but with increasing recognition of the condition there is likely to be increasing demand for arthroscopy.
Questions/purposes: We describe an approach to determine the incremental cost-effectiveness of hip arthroscopy compared with observation in patients with FAI; we also identified variables that influence its cost-effectiveness.
Patients And Methods: We constructed a Markov model including possible health states for 36-year-old patients with FAI using decision analysis software and compared two strategies: (1) observation and (2) hip arthroscopy, followed by THA with disease progression.
Background: Recent basic science studies have demonstrated local anesthetic chondrotoxicity in vivo and in vitro in both human and animal cartilage. Clinically, chondrolysis associated with the use of intra-articular local anesthetic pain pumps has been described by several groups. This has raised concern regarding the clinical use of intra-articular local anesthetics.
