Objective: To evaluate the predictive validity of IRIS™ (Intuitive Surgical®, Sunnyvale, CA, USA) as a planning tool for robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) by assessing the degree of overlap with intraoperative execution.

Methods: Thirty-one patients scheduled for RAPN by four experienced urologists were enrolled in a prospective study. Prior to surgery, urologists reviewed the IRIS™ three-dimensional model on an iphone Operating System (iOS) app and completed a questionnaire outlining their surgical plan including surgical approach, and ischemia technique as well as confidence in executing this plan.

With introduction of the da Vinci single-port (SP) system, we evaluated which multiport (MP) robotic skills are naturally transferable to the SP platform. Three groups of urologists: Group 1 (5 inexperienced in MP and SP), Group 2 (5 experienced in MP without SP experience), and Group 3 (2 experienced in both MP and SP) were recruited to complete a validated urethrovesical anastomosis simulation using MP followed by SP robots. Performance was graded using both GEARS and RACE scales.

Purpose: IRIS provides interactive, 3D anatomical visualizations of renal anatomy for pre-operative planning that can be manipulated by altering transparency, rotating, zooming, panning, and overlaying the CT scan. Our objective was to analyze how eye tracking metrics and utilization patterns differ between preoperative surgical planning of renal masses using IRIS and CT scans.

Methods: Seven surgeons randomly reviewed IRIS and CT images of 9 patients with renal masses [5 high complexity (RENAL score ≥ 8), 4 low complexity (≤ 7)].

Objective: To evaluate the use of 3D computed aided designs and 3D-printed models as pre-operative planning tools for urologists, in addition to radiologist interpreted mp-MRIS, prior to radical prostatectomy procedures.

Methods: Ten patients with biopsy-positive lesions detected on mp-MRI were retrospectively selected. Radiologists identified lesion locations using a Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) map and segmented the prostate, lesion(s), and surrounding anatomy to create 3D-CADs and 3D-printed models for each patient.

Background: While magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-targeted biopsy (TBx) results in better prostate cancer (PCa) detection relative to systematic biopsy (SBx), the combination of both methods increases clinically significant PCa detection relative to either Bx method alone. However, combined Bx subjects patients to higher number of Bx cores and greater detection of clinically insignificant PCa.

Introduction: We assessed the impact of a diabetic foot ulcer prevention program incorporating once-daily foot temperature monitoring on hospitalizations, emergency department and outpatient visits, and rates of diabetic foot ulcer recurrence and lower extremity amputations for patients with recently healed foot ulcers.

Research Design And Methods: In this retrospective analysis of real-world data, we enrolled 80 participants with a healed diabetic foot ulcer in a year-long foot ulcer recurrence prevention program. Four outpatient centers within a large integrated healthcare system in the USA contributed to enrollment.

Conventional staging for prostate cancer (PCa) is performed for men diagnosed with unfavorable-intermediate or higher risk disease. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen and pelvis and whole body bone scan remains the standard of care for the detection of visceral, nodal, and bone metastasis. Background: The "cancer analogy" is powerful for communicating risk to and organizing care for patients with diabetic foot syndrome. One potentially underappreciated similarity between cancer and foot ulcers is that both can recur at anatomical locations distinct from the primary occurrence, albeit with different physiological mechanisms. Objective: Daily remote foot temperature monitoring is an evidence-based preventive practice for patients at risk for diabetic foot complications. Unfortunately, the conventional approach requires comparison of temperatures between contralaterally matched anatomy, limiting practice in high-risk cohorts such as patients with a wound to one foot and those with proximal lower extremity amputation (LEA). Objectives: To determine the rate of Gleason Grade Group (GGG) upgrading in African-American (AA) men with a prior diagnosis of low-grade prostate cancer (GGG 1 or GGG 2) on 12-core systematic biopsy (SB) after multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and fusion biopsy (FB); and whether AA men who continued active surveillance (AS) after mpMRI and FB fared differently than a predominantly Caucasian (non-AA) population.

Patients And Methods: A database of men who had undergone mpMRI and FB was queried to determine rates of upgrading by FB amongst men deemed to be AS candidates based on SB prior to referral. After FB, Kaplan-Meier curves were generated for AA men and non-AA men who then elected AS.
