The popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES) is a frequent disease of especially young patients, often following a muscular exertion. To avoid the complications, the diagnosis must rapidly be done. According to this report of a 12 year old child, we think that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is very accurate to diagnose the abnormalities of the popliteal artery course, the muscular hypertrophies and can relieve of more invasive procedures such as the arteriography associated with known morbidity in young patients.

The problem raised is that of the legitimacy of palliative urinary derivation in the malignant tumours of the pelvis beyond any therapeutic possibility. Between 1980 and 1985, 49 patients were referred to the department of Urology of Rennes for cutaneous ureterostomy type. 39 records were suitable for review.

Eight cases of lateral ventral hernia, or the so-called hernia of the line of Spiegel, included 2 serious cases complicated by a pyostercoral phlegmon. The principal anatomic, clinical and therapeutic features of these hernias are discussed, with emphasis of the probable underestimation of this affection and the value of parietal ultrasound imaging for its early diagnosis in patients with abdominal pain unexplained by a deep visceral lesion.
