There is growing interest in awake craniotomies, but some clinicians are concerned that such procedures are poorly tolerated by patients. Therefore, we conducted a study to assess this phenomenon. In this prospective qualitative study, 68 patients who qualified for awake craniotomy were asked to complete the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)-two days before the surgery and visual analogue scales (VAS) for pain and stress, two days before the surgery and again about two days after.

Methods: We conducted an analysis of prospectively collected data from 53 (54 procedures) consecutive patients.
The aim of this manuscript is to present our intraoperative technique assessing the ability to perform music. Our protocol excludes cases where performance can be disrupted by motor deficits. The positive cortical sites (the posterior part of the superior temporal gyrus and supramarginal gyrus) related purely to music performance are also reported.

Introduction: Cirrhosis related to hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is the most frequent indication for liver transplantation worldwide. Progress in prophylaxis of posttransplant HBV recurrence has led to major improvements in long-term outcomes of patients after liver transplantation. Conversely, impaired posttransplant survival of patients with HCV infection was reported in several studies, mainly due to recurrence of viral infection.
