Article Synopsis
  • The STRONGkids tool is validated for nutritional screening in pediatric hospital settings, but its cutoff values need to be reevaluated for use in Brazil.
  • A study involving 599 pediatric patients assessed nutrition risk using STRONGkids alongside anthropometric measurements to identify cases of malnutrition and predict hospital stays.
  • Results indicated that 83.6% of patients faced medium to high nutritional risk, and a score of 3 on STRONGkids should be classified as high risk in Brazil, similar to scores of 4-5, for predicting longer hospital stays.
