Hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), is a heavy metal endocrine disruptor used widely in various industries worldwide and is considered a reproductive toxicant. Our previous studies demonstrated that lactational exposure to Cr(VI) caused follicular atresia, disrupted steroid hormone biosynthesis and signaling, and delayed puberty. However, the underlying mechanism was unknown.
