Urosymphseal fistulas are a debilitating but treatable consequence of the combination of radiotherapy and endoscopic interventions in prostate cancer patients. Treatment includes fistula excision with a tissue flap to prevent communication of involved structures and provide structural and vascular support. We introduce a unique surgical approach of mobilizing and utilizing a corpus spongiosum flap in urosymphyseal fistula repair.

The incidence of bladder neck contracture (BNC), or postprostatectomy vesicourethral anastomosis, has declined since the advent of robotic surgery. However, men with peripheral vascular comorbidities, among other factors, still have a high risk of developing this complication after any surgery that involves manipulation of the prostate. The best strategy for BNC management remains uncertain because of inconsistency in success for different approaches across studies.

Peyronie disease (PD) is a benign, superficial fibromatosis involving the fascial structures of the penis, causing deformity, pain, and loss of function, for which there are few contemporary studies of the histopathology. We performed a multi-institutional review of 74 routine and consultation specimens submitted with clinical concern for PD. Of these, three non-PD lesions were identified and excluded (a myointimoma, a mammary-type myofibroblastoma, and fibrocalcific atherosclerosis).

Aims: Dynamic elasticity was previously identified in individuals with overactive bladder (OAB) using comparative-fill urodynamics (UD) and is a biomechanical mechanism for acutely regulating detrusor wall tension. On the basis of this data, a conceptual model of dynamic elasticity regulation mediated through a balance of passive mechanisms and active contractions was constructed. The present study tested this model by determining whether individuals with detrusor overactivity (DO) exhibit less dynamic elasticity than individuals without DO.

Objective: To describe our experience with management of lower genitourinary foreign bodies (FBs); to introduce our novel, but simple and minimally-invasive retrieval method compared with standard techniques for anterior urethral FBs; and to propose a derived, practical management algorithm.
