Background: Optimal risk stratification is the key to minimizing relapse and toxicity in children with Wilms tumor (WT). The study evaluated poor tumor volume response to chemotherapy as a risk factor that predicts relapse.

Procedure: Children with WT who were treated between 2005 and 2020 at the center were analyzed.

Primary intracranial germ cell tumors (ICGCT) are often diagnosed with tumor markers and imaging, which may avoid the need for a biopsy. An intracranial germ cell tumor with mild elevation of markers is seldom stratified as a distinct entity. Fifty-nine patients were stratified into three groups: pure germinoma (PG), secreting germinoma (SG) and non-germinomatous germ cell tumors (NGGCTs).

Aim: To describe clinical characteristics, procedural details, specific challenges, and outcomes in patients with HeartMate3™ (HM3), a left ventricular assist device system with a magnetically levitated pump, undergoing ventricular tachycardia ablation (VTA).

Background And Purpose: Asian Americans (AAs) are the fastest-growing ethnic group in the United States. There is a paucity of research on alcohol-related problems among AAs. However, alcohol use and misuse are a growing concern within this population and are associated with adverse health and mental health consequences.

Association between early ventricular arrhythmias and mortality in destination vs. bridge patients on continuous flow LVAD support.

The association between ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) and mortality in patients supported by continuous flow left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) remains controversial. To evaluate the association between pre-implantation, early (≤ 30 day) post-implantation VAs and mortality in bridge to transplant (BTT) and destination therapy (DT) LVAD patients, separately. The risk factors for post LVAD VAs were also investigated.

Clinical Characterization and Genomic Analysis of Samples from COVID-19 Breakthrough Infections during the Second Wave among the Various States of India.

From March to June 2021, India experienced a deadly second wave of COVID-19, with an increased number of post-vaccination breakthrough infections reported across the country. To understand the possible reason for these breakthroughs, we collected 677 clinical samples (throat swab/nasal swabs) of individuals from 17 states/Union Territories of the country who had received two doses ( = 592) and one dose ( = 85) of vaccines and tested positive for COVID-19. These cases were telephonically interviewed and clinical data were analyzed.

Background: Focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a histologic pattern of injury that characterizes a wide spectrum of diseases. Many genetic causes have been identified in FSGS but even in families with comprehensive testing, a significant proportion remain unexplained.

Methods: In a family with adult-onset autosomal dominant FSGS, linkage analysis was performed in 11 family members followed by whole exome sequencing (WES) in 3 affected relatives to identify candidate genes.

Purpose: Antimicrobial resistance has emerged as a major public health problem in India. Hence effective antimicrobial stewardship programs (AMSP) are needed. We report the design, implementation and results of a prospective audit and feedback based AMSP at a private tertiary care hospital.

In addition to anti-human leukocyte antigen (HLA) donor-specific antibodies, antibodies against non-HLA antigens are also linked to AMR. Identifying key non-HLA antibodies will improve our understanding of AMR.

Factors influencing self-care behavior of socio-economically disadvantaged diabetic patients: A systematic review.

Diabetes mellitus and its complications carry broad financial misfortune to the diabetic patients and their family, to the well-being frameworks, and to the public economies through direct clinical expenses and decreased work efficiency. The present study systematically reviewed the possible factors that are influencing self-care behavior of disadvantaged diabetic patients that contribute heavily to the management of this chronic illness. Structured searches were conducted on PubMed, ScienceDirect, and manual searches on Google Scholar for articles published between the years 2000 and 2020.

Self-assembly of colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) holds great promise in the multiscale engineering of solid-state materials, whereby atomically engineered NC building blocks are arranged into long-range ordered structures-superlattices (SLs)-with synergistic physical and chemical properties. Thus far, the reports have by far focused on single-component and binary systems of spherical NCs, yielding SLs isostructural with the known atomic lattices. Far greater structural space, beyond the realm of known lattices, is anticipated from combining NCs of various shapes.

A Review of Eptinezumab Use in Migraine.

We present a review of the efficacy and safety profile of eptinezumab (also known by the brand name Vyepti), a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) monoclonal antibody (mAb) developed by Lundbeck Seattle BioPharmaceuticals, Inc., that received its first approval in the USA on 21 February 2020 for the preventive treatment of migraine in adults. It is administered by an intravenous infusion at a 100 mg dose every 3 months and shows no drug interactions.

Gender, health and ageing in Fiji: a mixed methods analysis.

Background: Women are disadvantaged by ageing: older women are more likely than older men to suffer from ill-health, have less access to health care and suffer discrimination within the health care system. Globally, there is a dearth of health research on gender and ageing with substantial knowledge gaps in low and middle-income country contexts. Part of a wider investigation on health and ageing in Fiji, our objective was to identify and describe gendered differences in healthy ageing in this Pacific Island context.

Prolonged Normothermic Ex Vivo Kidney Perfusion Is Superior to Cold Nonoxygenated and Oxygenated Machine Perfusion for the Preservation of DCD Porcine Kidney Grafts.

Unlabelled: The increased usage of marginal grafts has triggered interest in perfused kidney preservation to minimize graft injury. We used a donation after circulatory death (DCD) porcine kidney autotransplantation model to compare 3 of the most frequently used ex vivo kidney perfusion techniques: nonoxygenated hypothermic machine perfusion (non-oxHMP), oxygenated hypothermic machine perfusion (oxHMP), and normothermic ex vivo kidney perfusion (NEVKP).

Methods: Following 30 min of warm ischemia, grafts were retrieved and preserved with either 16 h of non-oxHMP, oxHMP, or NEVKP (n = 5 per group).

A Case of Euthyroid Steroid-Responsive Encephalopathy With Subacute Dementia.

Steroid-responsive encephalopathy associated with autoimmune thyroiditis (SREAT), frequently termed as Hashimoto's encephalopathy (HE), is characterized by reversible encephalopathy with the presence of elevated antithyroid antibodies. The condition was initially described due to its association with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. We report a case of euthyroid HE presenting as subacute dementia.

Kidney transplantation with grafts procured after donation-after-cardiac death (DCD) has led to an increase in incidence of delayed graft function (DGF). It is thought that the warm ischemic (WI) insult encountered during DCD procurement is the cause of this finding, although few studies have been designed to definitely demonstrate this causation in a transplantation setting. Here, we use a large animal renal transplantation model to study the effects of prolonged WI during procurement on post-transplantation renal function.

Our understanding of the mechanisms responsible for the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is incomplete. Microarray analysis of kidneys at 4 and 7 weeks of age in mice, a model of progressive nephropathy characterized by proteinuria, interstitial fibrosis, and inflammation, revealed that Follistatin-like-1 () was one of only four genes significantly overexpressed at 4 weeks of age. mRNA levels for the receptors, and , increased in both mice and mice subjected to unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO).

Crowdsourcing to develop open-access learning resources on antimicrobial resistance.

Objectives: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant threat to global public health. Many medical curricula have limited clinical cases and materials focused on AMR, yet enhanced AMR education and training are needed to support antimicrobial stewardship programmes. We used crowdsourcing methods to develop open-access, learner-centred AMR resources.

Comparison of the efficiency of arm force versus arm force plus wrist movement in closed method extractions an observational study.

Backgound: Atraumatic dental extraction preserves not only the bone, but also maintains the gingival architecture, hence allows immediate or late dental implant placement. The incidence of fracture of roots and buccal cortical plates increases when wrong force is used. Currently, there is insufficient literature evidence with regard to the appropriate method for application of arm and wrist force at the time of dental extraction.
