Perioperative Management of the Fontan Patient for Cardiac and Noncardiac Surgery.

The Fontan circulation is the single-ventricle approach to surgical palliation of complex congenital heart disease wherein biventricular separation and function cannot be safely achieved. Incremental improvements in this surgical technique, along with improvements in the long-term medical management of these patients, have led to greater survival of these patients and a remarkably steady increase in the number of adults living with this unusual circulation and physiology. This has implications for healthcare providers who now have a greater chance of encountering Fontan patients during the course of their practice.

Comparing erector spinae plane block with serratus anterior plane block for minimally invasive thoracic surgery: a randomised clinical trial.

Advancing the practice of online psychotherapy: An application of Rogers' diffusion of innovations theory.

With the advancements of technology and its increasing use in all spheres of life, clinicians too are faced with the decision of whether to adopt or refrain from adopting certain innovations in their practice. This article discusses the process of adopting clinical innovations within a theoretical framework, namely diffusion of innovations theory (DIT; Rogers, 2003). DIT constructs are applied to the example of online therapy adoption into clinical practice.

Perceived abuse and disability in a sample of Ohio's women's correctional population.

The Abuse Disability Questionnaire was administered to 435 female inmates at a state prison in Ohio. Analysis indicated that 69% of the women reported some type of past physical, sexual, or psychological abuse, which is consistent with other reports for state prisons. Both the amount of abuse reported as well as the extent of associated psychological impairment was less in comparison to scores for women in domestic violence shelters.
