Addressing Health Care Disparities and COVID-19: Mental Illness Prevention in Communities of Color.

As the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in March 2020, the New York State Office of Mental Health received funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to implement the agency's Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program statewide. Because COVID-19 infections were disproportionately affecting minority communities of color, engagement strategies that prioritized contracting with community agencies that were already well established in the most highly affected racial-ethnic minority neighborhoods were used. This approach to outreach successfully made engagement and counseling support available to Black and Hispanic citizens, at levels significantly exceeding their proportional representation in the state population.

Economic burden of breast cancer in India, 2000-2021 and forecast to 2030.

Background Breast cancer represents a significant public health concern in India, accounting for 28% of all cancer diagnoses and imposing a substantial economic burden. This study introduces a novel approach to forecasting the number of breast cancer cases (based on prevalence rates) and estimating the associated economic impact in India using the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model. Methods Data on the prevalence of breast cancer in India from 2000 to 2021 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database.

Prevalence and incidence of zoonotic diseases in South Asia: a systematic review protocol.

Objective: This review aims to estimate the prevalence and incidence of zoonotic diseases from studies of populations from South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka).

Introduction: South Asia is of notable importance in terms of the prevalence and incidence of endemic zoonoses, as well as its role as a focal point for emerging zoonotic diseases.

Inclusion Criteria: All populations residing in the 8 South Asian countries, irrespective of age/gender, will be considered.

Background: A significant proportion of false positive recalls of mammography-screened women is due to benign breast cysts and simple fibroadenomas. These lesions appear mammographically as smooth-shaped dense masses and require the recalling of women for a breast ultrasound to obtain complementary imaging information. They can be identified safely by ultrasound with no need for further assessment or treatment.

Conventional refractive lenses are often stacked to correct aberrations at a wide field of view, leading to limited performance and increased size and weight. Balance confidence and associated factors among patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a progressive condition that results in decreased mobility, self-imposed restriction of activity, and impaired functions such as loss of self-efficacy, fear of falling, and balance impairments. This study assessed balance confidence and associated factors among patients with KOA.

Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 115 patients with KOA.

These 'interest-holders' include patients, payers/purchasers of health services, payers of health research, peer review editors, product makers, programme managers, policymakers, providers, principal investigators, and the public. The Guidelines International Network (GIN) and McMaster University Guideline Development Checklist describes 146 steps of the guideline process organized into 18 topics.

Background: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is increasing globally and poses a significant public health challenge. Community pharmacists, especially in primary care settings, play a pivotal role in mitigating the irrational use of antibiotics, a key driver of AMR.

Objectives: This study aims to explore qualitative insights from community pharmacists regarding antibiotic supply and usage, analyze sentiments related to AMR, and highlight the crucial role of community pharmacists in AMR stewardship at the primary care/community level.

Upper limb disabilities and associated factors among breast cancer survivors: A quantitative cross-sectional study.

Objectives: Complications following breast cancer treatment result in chronic upper limb disabilities. To plan an informed and effective rehabilitation for timely intervention to prevent, mitigate, or manage the functional impairments for breast cancer survivors, especially in settings with limited resources, the burden of upper limb disabilities needs to be ascertained. This study examined upper limb disabilities and associated factors among breast cancer survivors.

Spontaneous Epidural Hematomas in a Patient With Sickle Cell Anemia: A Case Report.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a systemic organ disease with acute and chronic complications. Neurological complications of SCD include cerebral ischemia, moyamoya syndrome, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome, cerebral fat embolism, and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Although less frequent, rare hemorrhagic manifestations, such as spontaneous epidural hematoma (EDH), can occur and are associated with increased mortality and morbidity.

Using Virtual Reality in Sexual Aggression Alcohol Administration Research: Opportunities and Challenges.

This overview comprises 1,787 documents: journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers from 819 sources.

Health technology assessment for digital health Technologies in India: a framework for action.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to understand the path for establishing digital health technologies-health technology assessment (DHT-HTA) in India.

Methods: A rapid review of HTA and DHT frameworks on PubMed (MEDLINE) and Google Scholar was conducted to identify DHT-HTA guidelines, and HTA processes in India. MS-Excel template was created with key domains for assessing DHT in resource-constrained settings based on studies and reports identified.

The use of ultrasound-guided imaging to localize peripheral nerve injury in pediatric patients: A case report.

Background: The use of ultrasonography to diagnose and manage peripheral nerve injury is not routinely performed, but is an advantageous alternative to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the pediatric population.

Case Description: The authors report a case of a toddler-aged female who sustained a supracondylar fracture and subsequent median and ulnar nerve injuries. All preoperative and postoperative imaging was performed through high-resolution ultrasound as opposed to MRI.

Introduction: Numerous studies demonstrate that modifiable lifestyle risk factors can influence patient outcomes including survivability, quality of life, and postoperative complications following orthopaedic surgery. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of modifiable lifestyle risk factors on postoperative medical and surgical complications following a total joint arthroplasty (TJA) in a large national healthcare system.

Methods: A retrospective chart review of a large national health system database was performed to identify patients who underwent TJA between 2017 and 2021.
