Patients and family caregivers tell different stories about their illness and care experiences than their physicians do. Better understanding of the relationships among these narratives could offer insight into intersections and disconnections in patient, caregiver and physician perceptions of illness and care. Such understanding could support enhanced patient-centred care in medical education and practice.

To date, very little empirical evidence has been reported on whether the presence of a librarian or information professional can contribute to the quality of the final product. The goal of this study was to compare the reporting rigor of the literature searching component of systematic reviews with and without the help of a librarian.

The iStent is an example of a minimally invasive glaucoma device that has received particular attention due to its early and wide spread utilization. There is a growing body of evidence supporting its use at the time of phacoemulsification to help lower IOP.

However, pharmacotherapy is not benign and has been well documented to have a number of significant challenges.

Objectives: Current recommendations for safe and effective dental management are less than optimal for some medical conditions because of limited evidence, conflicting conclusions, or both. This review (1) compiled and evaluated dental management recommendations for select medical conditions; (2) summarized recommendations and their assigned levels of evidence; (3) identified areas of conflict, ambiguity, or both; and (4) identified issues that warrant future research, enhanced consensus statements, or both.
Study Design: Systematic literature searches were performed for guideline publications, systematic and narrative reviews, and opinion documents containing recommendations for (1) medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ); (2) cardiovascular diseases (CVDs); (3) prosthetic joints (PJs); and (4) systemic steroid therapy (SST).
Background: Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible visual impairment in the world affecting 60.5 million people worldwide in 2010, which is expected to increase to approximately 79.6 million by 2020.

Methods: Randomized clinical trials with a minimum of 3 years of follow-up that evaluated the effectiveness of tooth-colored materials, adhesive systems, and preparation techniques for the restoration of NCCLs were selected. The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), EMBASE (OVID), the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature database (LILACS), and Medline (OVID) electronic databases were searched from 1990 to 2013.
Objective: To synthesise the association of shift work with major vascular events as reported in the literature.
Data Sources: Systematic searches of major bibliographic databases, contact with experts in the field, and review of reference lists of primary articles, review papers, and guidelines.
Study Selection: Observational studies that reported risk ratios for vascular morbidity, vascular mortality, or all cause mortality in relation to shift work were included; control groups could be non-shift ("day") workers or the general population.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to complete a systematic review and, if possible, a meta-analysis on the effectiveness of systemic and topical nucleoside antiviral agents in the prevention of recurrent herpes labialis (RHL) in immunocompetent subjects.
Study Design: Multiple comprehensive electronic and manual literature searches without language restrictions identified the studies to be included. Quality assessment and data synthesis methods followed those described in the Cochrane guidelines.
