Comparison of robotic versus laparoscopic right colectomy node retrieval in the obese population.

Data are scarce comparing robotic and laparoscopic colectomy node retrieval based on body mass index or age. With differences in anastomosis, mobilization, and ligation between these approaches, obese and/or elderly patients undergoing robotic surgery may have differences in node yield compared to laparoscopy. A retrospective review was conducted between four institutions from February 1, 2019 through August 1, 2021, during which 144 right colectomies were performed.

Scrotal and Penile Erythrodysesthesia Associated with Neoadjuvant Capecitabine Chemoradiation.

Capecitabine, a prodrug of fluorouracil, is a component of many chemotherapy regimens used to treat a wide variety of malignancies. One of the most common adverse reactions experienced by those who have been exposed to capecitabine is palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia (PPE). PPE is a cutaneous manifestation of chemotherapy-related drug toxicity that has signs and symptoms of erythema, edema, pain, ulceration, or desquamation of the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

LigaSure Vessel Sealing System in Altemeier's Procedure for Geriatric Patients.

The aim of this study is to describe the feasibility, safety, and efficiency of LigaSure™ Vessel Sealing System (LSVSS) in Altemeier's procedure for full-thickness rectal prolapse in a geriatric group of octogenarians and older. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a study on this procedure looks specifically at a very old patient group and LigaSure. A review of the literature was conducted on Pubmed Database.

Mesh pouch pexy in the management of J-pouch prolapse.

J-pouch prolapse is a rare complication after IPAA. To date, limited data exist regarding management of this condition, with most reported cases involving suture pouch pexy. We present our experience and technique with 3 patients who were treated with transabdominal mesh pexy repair.
