- The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) for managing malignant gastric outlet obstruction in patients, differentiating between those with and without peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC).
- A retrospective analysis of 62 patients showed a high technical success rate of 96.8% and a clinical success rate of 79%, with lower clinical success in patients with PC (66.7% vs. 88.6%).
- Although there was no significant difference in overall survival between those with or without PC, patients who successfully improved after SEMS placement had notably longer median survival (75 days) compared to those who did not improve (14.5 days).
Background: Knowledge of the position and shape of the endoscope could overcome many challenges of performing colonoscopy, e.g., loop formation.

The index patient and three children showed mild but regular electron microscopic connective tissue aberrations. They were considered as carriers of an unknown autosomal dominant mutation.
