For successful cross-pollination, most flowering plants rely on insects as pollinators and attract them by offering rewards, predominantly nectar and pollen. Bees-a highly important pollinator group-are especially dependent on pollen as their main source of essential nutrients, including proteins, lipids, and sterols. Fatty acids (FAs) in particular play a pivotal role as fundamental energy source, contributing to membrane structure integrity, cellular homeostasis, and cognitive processes.

Selective laser trabeculoplasty following failed combined phacoemulsification cataract extraction and excimer laser trabeculotomy can control intraocular pressure for a limited time.

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) following failed phacoemulsification cataract extraction combined with excimer laser trabeculotomy (phaco-ELT).

Methods: Retrospectively, the medical records of patients with primary or secondary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who underwent SLT between January 2001 and February 2015 by one surgeon at a single center after a failed phaco-ELT were evaluated. Exclusion criteria were: angle-closure glaucoma, optic nerve atrophy due to disease other than glaucoma, and additional glaucoma procedures between phaco-ELT and SLT.

Toxicity of combined targeted therapy and concurrent radiotherapy in metastatic melanoma patients: a single-center retrospective analysis.

The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group consensus guidelines from 2016 recommend interruption of targeted therapy with BRAF- and MEK-inhibitors during radiotherapy with data being based mostly on BRAF monotherapy. The aim of this study is to provide data on the safety of concurrent radiotherapy and combination targeted therapy with BRAF- and MEK-inhibitors. A total of 32 patients with 51 sessions of radiotherapy from one center receiving concurrent radiotherapy and BRAF- and MEK- inhibitors were included.

Personality in situations: Going beyond the OCEAN and introducing the Situation Five.

We present the psychometric evaluation of a personality measure that assesses the Big Five and situation perception based on a newly developed taxonomy of situation characteristics. Following the lexical approach, more than 15,000 adjectives were extracted from an authoritative German dictionary. In a first exploratory study, 521 participants rated every-day situations on 300 adjectives selected as potential situation descriptors.
