  • Ukraine has low COVID-19 vaccination rates, which could heighten health risks amid the ongoing refugee crisis and global virus changes.
  • * A qualitative study with 45 Ukrainian female migrants identified factors influencing their vaccination decisions through focus groups and thematic analysis.

Background: Risky behaviours such as smoking, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity and inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables are known contributing factors for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) which account for 74% of global mortality. Such behavioural risk factors co-occur frequently resulting in synergistic action for developing NCD related morbidity and mortality. This study aims to assess the existence of multiple risk behaviours and determine the socio-economic and demographic factors associated with co-occurrence of behavioural risks among Myanmar adult population.

Background: Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) were advised to tightly adhere to government recommendations to curb the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) because of a high risk of morbidity and mortality and decreased immunogenicity after vaccination. The aim of this study was to analyse the change in adherence to preventive measures after vaccination and awareness of antibody response, and to evaluate its effectiveness.

Methods: In this large-scale, national questionnaire study, questionnaires were sent to 3531 KTRs enrolled in the Dutch RECOVAC studies, retrospectively asking for adherence to nine preventive measures on a 5-point Likert scale before and after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and after awareness of antibody response.

  • Migrants, particularly Ukrainian economic migrants (UMs) in Poland, face significant barriers to accessing vaccinations like HPV and MMR, stemming from gaps in health systems and healthcare integration.
  • Focus groups with UMs and interviews with healthcare workers revealed issues such as language difficulties, lack of reliable health information, and discrimination, which complicate the vaccination process.
  • Effective policy changes are needed to improve awareness and access to vaccines for UMs, including addressing cost issues and enhancing communication to remove barriers to healthcare services.

In Southeast Asia, community-based health interventions (CBHIs) are often used to target non-communicable diseases (NCDs). CBHIs that are tailored to sociocultural aspects of health and well-being: local language, religion, customs, traditions, individual preferences, needs, values, and interests, may promote health more effectively than when no attention is paid to these aspects. In this study, we aimed to develop a guideline for the contextual adaption of CBHIs.
