- This study reviewed data from COPD patients in Japan from May 2018 to December 2021, categorizing them into four groups based on the triple therapy they started, including early adopters of a specific therapy and users of other available combinations.
- The findings revealed that a high percentage of patients had asthma as a comorbidity, and around 14% to 18% experienced moderate to severe exacerbations in the year before starting treatment, indicating significant healthcare resource utilization
Background: Observational studies are widely used in pharmacoepidemiology. Several designs can be used, in particular self-controlled designs (case-crossover and self-controlled case series). These designs offer the advantage of controlling for time-invariant confounders, which may not be collected in electronic healthcare databases.

Given its pharmacological properties, it is likely to be used in organ transplantation. Our purposes were to describe the consumption trends of eculizumab for off-label indications overall and in the organ transplantation field and to assess the impact of publications on the latter use.

To be valid, the design requires that some characteristics must be present. Recommendations for their use have been published in 2012, which encourage their implementation when these key characteristics are valid.
