Intestinal intussusception is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction; intestinal intussusception associated with endometriosis is very rare. The varied clinical presentations make the diagnosis demanding. In this article, we report the case of a young female patient with an intestinal obstruction due to intussusception.

Background & Aims: Germline mutations in the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes MSH2, MSH6, or MLH1 predispose to colorectal cancer (CRC) with an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern. The protein encoded by PMS2 is also essential for MMR; however, alterations in this gene have been documented only in extremely rare cases. We addressed this unexpected finding by analyzing a large series of CRCs.

Questions Under Study/principles: The incidence of oesophageal adenocarcinoma has quadrupled in the last 20 years. Barrett's oesophagus carries a 30- to 125-fold increased risk of developing adenocarcinoma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence and surveillance of Barrett's oesophagus, dysplasia and adenocarcinoma in Eastern Switzerland.
