Disseminated MAI in an HIV Patient-An Unusual Presentation.

Patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and especially Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), can present in a multitude of ways with a variety of possible pathologies. This can prove to be a challenge to a clinician. The patient, in this case, was found to have disseminated (MAI), despite compliance with antiretroviral therapy (ART), who presented with right upper quadrant pain, isolated elevated alkaline phosphatase, and sepsis.

Objectives: To determine the failure rate of the DePuy-Synthes variable angle locking compression curved condylar plate (VA-LCP) and quantify failure modes.

Design: Retrospective review.

Setting: Level I Trauma Center.
