Rotavirus infections cause severe gastroenteritis and dehydration in young children and animals worldwide, leading to high rates of morbidity and mortality, predominantly in low- and middle-income countries. In the past decade, substantial progress has been made in the development and implementation of rotavirus vaccines, which have been essential in alleviating the global burden of this disease, not only in human being but also in livestock species like calves and piglets, where these infections can cause significant economic losses. By synthesizing the latest research and real-world evidence, this review article is designated to provide deep insights into the current state of rotavirus vaccine technology and its global implementation as well as the application of rotavirus vaccines in veterinary settings and their importance in controlling zoonotic transmission and maintaining food security.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is beneficial to biological tissues; depending on the optical dose that is absorbed by tissues, it can function as a biostimulative, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory mediator. Thus, the current research aimed to assess the impacts of PBM and Calcium aluminosilicate-based material on direct pulp capping (DPC) of dogs' permanent teeth through histological analysis. To study DPC of dogs' teeth, we separated 24 canines and premolars obtained from mature, healthy mongrel dogs into four equal groups: group 1, which served as the control (exposed pulp was covered with a sterile polytetrafluoroethylene, Teflon tape); group 2, which received PBM treatment using a 980 nm diode laser with a 100 mw output power for one minute; group 3: Calcium aluminosilicate-based material; group 4: Calcium aluminosilicate+PBM.

Background: Postextubation respiratory failure (PRF) frequently complicates weaning from mechanical ventilation and may increase morbidity/mortality. Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) alternating with high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) may prevent PRF.

Methods: Ventilated patients without chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and at high-risk of PRF defined as a lung ultrasound score (LUS) ≥ 14 assessed during the spontaneous breathing trial, were included in a French-Chinese randomised controlled trial.

Pharmacogenetics promises to optimize treatment-related outcomes by informing optimal drug selection and dosing based on an individual's genotype in conjunction with other important clinical factors. Despite significant evidence of genetic associations with drug response, pharmacogenetic testing has not been widely implemented into clinical practice. Among the barriers to broad implementation are limited guidance for how to successfully integrate testing into clinical workflows and limited data on outcomes with pharmacogenetic implementation in clinical practice.

Background: Teledermatology has been widely deployed over the past decade in France, becoming an indispensable tool in daily practice. Pediatric dermatology is a subspecialty of dermatology limited to a small number of specialists. In 2013, the Argenteuil Hospital developed a structured store-and-forward (SAF) service that is particularly well-suited for the field of pediatric dermatology.

One of the major factors hindering efficient livestock production is the presence of high-impact infectious animal diseases, such as foot and mouth disease (FMD), lumpy skin disease (LSD), and bovine ephemeral fever (BEF), which are notable viral infections affecting cattle in Egypt, leading to significant economic losses. FMD is caused by the foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) of the genus in the family. LSD is caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) of genus within the family, subfamily .

Objective: Uncooperative behavior in pediatric dentistry is one of the most common manifestations of dental anxiety. Managing anxious patients can be attained by moderate sedation. This study aimed to compare the effect of sedation by dexmedetomidine-ketamine combination (DEX-KET) versus dexmedetomidine (DEX) on behavior of uncooperative pediatric dental patients.

Introduction: Indigenous plants have historically been crucial in treating human diseases across various cultures worldwide. Research continues to uncover new therapeutic uses for indigenous plants, from treating infectious diseases to managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and wound care. This study aimed to examine the effect of palm tree leaves "Phoenix dactylifera L" extract and its topical film formulation on wound healing and blood glucose levels.

Bovine papillomatosis is an infectious viral disease of cattle characterized by development of benign cutaneous warts. The present study describes bovine papillomavirus infection in cattle on clinco-pathological and molecular bases and compares the identified strains with the previously characterized papillomavirus isolates in Egypt either of bovine or equine origin. Out of sixty examined cattle, skin lesions were collected from eleven clinically diseased cattle exhibiting typical papillomatosis clinical signs and subjected to histopathological and molecular identification.

Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease caused by monkeypox virus (MPXV), a DNA virus belonging to the Orthopoxvirus genus, in the Poxviridae family. The disease constitutes a moderate risk to public health at the global level. The MPXV A29L protein plays a crucial role in coordinating virion assembly and facilitating important virus-host interactions.

Article Synopsis
  • Ethanol is favored over methanol for fuel cells due to its higher energy density and lower toxicity, but finding affordable catalysts for ethanol oxidation is challenging.
  • Transition metal-based catalysts, especially nickel-based nanomaterials, are promising for enhancing the performance of alkaline direct ethanol fuel cells.
  • The study shows that a nanocomposite made of nickel oxide and carbon nanotubes, decorated with silver, significantly improves electrocatalytic activity, with the Ag 25%/NiO/CNT variant achieving a remarkable increase in ethanol conversion and energy efficiency.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has short survival rates. This study aimed to prepare a novel formula of sorafenib, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and folic acid to be tested as a drug delivery system targeting versus TNBC compared with free sorafenib and to evaluate the formula stability, in vitro pharmacodynamic, and in vivo pharmacokinetic properties. The formula preparation was done by the synthesis of polyethylene glycol bis amine linker, CNT PEGylation, folic acid attachment, and sorafenib loading.

Pharmacogenomic Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS) have emerged as a tool to address the polygenic nature of pharmacogenetic phenotypes, increasing the potential to predict drug response. Most pharmacogenomic PRS have been extrapolated from disease-associated variants identified by genome wide association studies (GWAS), although some have begun to utilize genetic variants from pharmacogenomic GWAS. As pharmacogenomic PRS hold the promise of enabling precision medicine, including stratified treatment approaches, it is important to assess the opportunities and challenges presented by the current data.

Article Synopsis
  • The livestock industry is crucial for Egypt's economy, providing food, jobs, and financial support; however, protozoan parasites like Besnoitia besnoiti and Neospora caninum lead to substantial economic losses in cattle and other ruminants.
  • A study conducted on 440 animals across Cairo, Giza, and Beni Suef found seroprevalence rates of 7.7% for B. besnoiti, 13.2% for N. caninum, and 0.9% for mixed infections.
  • Results indicated that B. besnoiti infection was more prevalent in adult cattle compared to sheep and goats, while N. caninum showed higher rates in cattle but no significant

This article describes a new method, inspired by machine learning, to mimic the mechanical behaviour of target biological soft tissues with 3D printed materials. The principle is to optimise the structure of a 3D printed composite consisting of a geometrically tunable fibre embedded in a soft matrix. Physiological features are extracted from experimental stress-strain curves of several biological soft tissues.
