A comparison of the quadhelix and the nickel-titanium palatal expander in the treatment of narrow maxillary arches: A prospective clinical study.

Objectives: The study aimed to compare the effects of quadhelix and nickel-titanium (NiTi) expander appliances on lower facial height, to quantify, and evaluate dentoalveolar and orthopedic changes in transverse plane, respectively, to estimate the difference in changes between these two appliances.

Materials And Methods: Twenty patients, ten for the quadhelix and NiTi expander in the two-appliance group, respectively, participated in this study. A total of 8 readings, 1 for clinical facial height, 2 for model analysis, and 5 for posteroanterior cephalometric analysis were recorded.

Good posture means spine is neutral. Posture is dictated by the existing occlusion, especially the relation between the maxillary and mandibular permanent first molars. Overloading the spine due to bad posture is the precursor of many ailments.

Comparison of speech performance in labial and lingual orthodontic patients: A prospective study.

Background: The intensity and duration of speech difficulty inherently associated with lingual therapy is a significant issue of concern in orthodontics. This study was designed to evaluate and to compare the duration of changes in speech between labial and lingual orthodontics.

Materials And Methods: A prospective longitudinal clinical study was designed to assess speech of 24 patients undergoing labial or lingual orthodontic treatment.

A camouflage treatment of Class II division 1 malocclusion complicated by missing lateral incisor.

This case report describes the treatment of a male patient, aged 16 years and 5 months, with a Class II division 1 malocclusion, who showed severe anterior protrusion and lower anterior crowding along with missing upper left lateral incisor. Treatment plan consisted of extraction of upper right first premolar and lower second premolars. No extraction was performed on the upper left quadrant instead canine was substituted as lateral incisor and premolar as canine to establish a good occlusion.
