Project Tooth Fairy: a pan-London initiative from conception to delivery to patient-reported experience measures.

Pressure on paediatric dental general anaesthetic (GA) waiting lists has recently been at its highest, further compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. Project Tooth Fairy (PTF), a pan-London collaborative project, was conceived in response to this backlog. A dedicated day case GA suite was established within The Royal London Dental Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust) for use by multiple trusts to enhance elective recovery.

Quantitative analysis of diplopia following orbital fracture repair.

Orbital fractures can result in devastating functional complications to sight and well-being, yet our understanding of functional sequelae post reconstruction is not well understood in the literature. This research retrospectively analysed the activity of a specialist orbital surgeon over five years to evaluate the incidence of, and risk factors for, debilitating complications such as diplopia and restriction of extraocular movement. Orbital fracture cases repaired between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2019 were retrospectively analysed.

Acquired Brown Syndrome in Head Trauma: Does Fixation of Associated Nasal and Frontal Bone Fractures Provide a Cure?

A 43-year-old gentleman presented with vertical double vision following nasal and frontal bone fractures resulting from blunt trauma to the glabella. Orthoptic assessment revealed a diagnosis of traumatic Brown syndrome affecting the right eye. The fractures were fixed with open reduction internal fixation via a coronal flap nine days after the injury was sustained.

Stereotactic radiosurgery XX: ocular neuromyotonia in association with gamma knife radiosurgery.

Unlabelled: We report three patients who developed symptoms and signs of ocular neuromyotonia (ONM) 3-6 months after receiving gamma knife radiosurgery (GKS) for functioning pituitary tumours. All three patients were complex, requiring multi-modality therapy and all had received prior external irradiation to the sellar region. Although direct causality cannot be attributed, the timing of the development of the symptoms would suggest that the GKS played a contributory role in the development of this rare problem, which we suggest clinicians should be aware of as a potential complication.
