For years, cancer has been the second cause of death worldwide, preceded by cardiovascular diseases only. The number of research groups focusing on the discovery of new drugs to treat cancer is growing and the aim is to look for more effective compounds that cause less severe side effects and do not suffer from therapeutic resistance. The metal complexes cisplatin and carboplatin are widely used in the chemotherapeutic treatment of various types of cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).

Chemically, quinolines are excellent ligands for metal coordination and are deployed as drugs for malaria treatment. There is a growing body of evidence indicating that metal complexes can be conjugated with antimalarial quinolines to be used as chemical tools to overcome the disadvantages of quinolines, improving their bioactive speciation, cellular distribution, and subsequently broadening the spectrum of activity to multiple stages of the complex Plasmodium life cycle.

This study proposes an analytical procedure for microwave-assisted sample preparation of dietary supplements for athletes using dilute nitric acid solution followed by determination of elemental impurities (As, Cd, Hg and Pb) by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) according to the United States Pharmacopeia Chapters 2232 and 233. Calibration strategies as internal standardization (IS), multi-isotope calibration (MICal), and one-point standard addition (OP SA) were applied for correction of matrix effects. The optimization of the sample preparation procedure was performed using Doehlert experimental design based on overall desirability results (residual acidity, dissolved organic carbon and recoveries reached for certified reference material of Typical Diet) for each calibration method evaluated.

They have high reactivity and bactericidal properties, making them important in antifouling paints, which are thus directly introduced into aquatic ecosystems. However, studies are scarce on the behavior of Cu nanoparticles (Cu-NPs) in natural aquatic systems and their interactions with primary producers such as microalgae.

Sample preparation was carried out by diluting 1 mL of deodorant sample in 1% (v v) HNO. The accuracy of the analytical procedure was evaluated using addition and recovery experiments, and recoveries ranged from 80 to 119%.
