Critical Care Challenges and Mortality Predictors in Older Adults: A Comprehensive Cohort Analysis.

Purpose:  As the population ages, critically ill older adults increasingly face complications and require more healthcare resources during hospitalization. Since post-ICU (intensive care unit) mortality is an important consideration, particularly in elderly populations, this study aims to assess whether advanced age impacts ICU and post-ICU mortality by comparing outcomes between patients aged 81 years and above with those below 81 years.

Methods:  This retrospective study analyzed data from 3,821 ICU patients treated at the Unidade Local de Saúde de Lisboa Ocidental between 2015 and 2023.

Heterogeneity in physician's job preferences in a dual practice context - Evidence from a DCE.

Many countries are facing challenges in recruiting and retaining physicians, particularly in regions where the public and private sectors compete for doctors. Understanding the factors influencing physicians' job choices can help inform policies aimed at attracting and retaining this valuable workforce. This study aims to elicit the strength of physicians' preferences regarding various job-related aspects, including earnings, time flexibility, discussion of clinical cases, frequency of facilities and equipment updates, training opportunities and autonomy in decision making.

[Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for Human Immunodeficiency Virus in the Medical Curricula in Portugal: A Cross-Sectional Analysis].

Introduction: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has gained relevance as a method of prevention for HIV in certain people and settings. Following the publication of the guideline on PrEP prescribing in Portugal, we aimed to assess the knowledge of Portuguese Medical Students about PrEP.
