Portable and affordable (spectro)photometers based on digital color sensors are gaining significance in analytical chemistry due to their compact design, cost-effectiveness and integration capabilities. Despite their inherent straight-forward operation, various digital light sensors with distinct performance and optical characteristics are available on the market. For instance, AS7341 and AS7262 are multi-channel color sensors that covers eight and six spectra regions, respectively, while TCS34725 operates using three channels (red, green, and blue).

Active-electrode biosensor of SnO nanowire for cyclodextrin detection from microbial enzyme.

Cyclodextrin (CD) is a conical compound used in food and pharmaceutical industry to complexation of hydrophobic substances. It is a product of microbial enzymes which converts starch into CD during their activity. We aim to detect CD using active-electrode biosensor of SnO.

Capillary electrophoresis to approach sorbate usage in processed meat products in Brazil.

Sorbate is a highly used preservative in a wide range of processed foods, including meat products. In this work sorbate usage in commercial processed meat products from the Brazilian market was evaluated. A capillary electrophoresis method for sorbate analysis using ethanol:water extraction solution (1:2, v/v) and sodium tetraborate (20 mmol L) electrolyte solution was validated.
