[Lymphatic filariasis in Belém, Pará State, North of Brazil and the perspective of elimination].

The objective was to characterize the epidemiological situation of lymphatic filariasis in Belém, state of Pará. Hemoscopic data was analyzed from 1951 through 2003. Information for the period from 1951 to 1994 was collected from reports available from the National Health Foundation.
