- The study compared the effectiveness of three chromogenic media (BBL CHROMagar™ Staph aureus, ChromID™ S. aureus SAID, ChromID™ S. aureus Elite SAIDE) and CNA media for isolating Staphylococcus aureus from respiratory samples of cystic fibrosis patients.
- All four media had a similar capability of supporting S. aureus growth, with sensitivity improving when samples were incubated for over 24 hours.
- Among the tested media, SAIDE showed the highest sensitivity while maintaining good specificity even after 72 hours of incubation.
