A library comprising twenty-four isosteric derivatives of celecoxib substituted with carboxylic acid (labeled as 5a-5x), was synthesized and characterized through H NMR, C NMR, HRMS, and elemental analysis. Molecular docking studies revealed that all compounds successfully docked into the binding pocket of COX-2, and the introduction of carboxyl group enhances the interaction between the derivatives and COX-2. The compounds were further evaluated for cell toxicity, and in vitro anti-inflammatory activity.

Background: This study aims to investigate the associations between signal-level physical activity (PA) features derived from wrist accelerometry data and cognitive status in older adults, and to evaluate their potential predictive value when combined with demographics.

Methods: We analyzed PA data from 3,363 older adults (NHATS: n = 747; NHANES: n = 2,616), with each participant contributing a complete 3-day continuous activity sequence. We extracted the most relevant PA features associated with cognitive function using feature engineering and recursive feature elimination.

Immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed the treatment paradigm for advanced-stage squamous non-small-cell lung cancer (LUSC), a histological subtype associated with inferior outcomes compared with lung adenocarcinoma. However, only a subset of patients derive durable clinical benefit. In the first-line setting, multiple ICI regimens are available, including anti-PD-(L)1 antibodies as monotherapy, in combination with chemotherapy, or with an anti-CTLA4 antibody with or without chemotherapy.

Li-TFSI/t-BP is the most widely utilized p-dopant for hole-transporting materials (HTMs) in state-of-the-art perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, its nonuniformity of doping, along with the hygroscopicity and migration of dopants, results in the devices exhibiting limited stability and performance. This study reports on the utilization of a spherical anion derived from the p-dopant, regulated by its radius and shape, as an alternative to the linear TFSI anion.

During acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), delayed apoptosis of neutrophils and impaired efferocytosis of macrophages constitute two critical limiting steps, leading to secondary inflammatory storm and posing a significant threat to human health. However, due to the failure of previous single target-centric treatments to effectively address these two limiting steps in controlling the inflammatory storm, no available therapies are approved for ARDS treatment. Herein, inspired by spontaneous inflammation resolution, two kinds of Apoptosis and Efferocytosis Restored Nanoparticles (AER NPs) are proposed to overcome these two limiting steps for counteracting severe inflammatory storm.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how air pollution exposure before conception affects childhood weight and BMI growth in children up to 2 years old in Shanghai, China.
  • It finds that higher levels of certain air pollutants (PM and NO) during the preconception period are linked to increased BMI and weight in children.
  • The research indicates that younger mothers and those with pre-existing overweight/obesity experience a greater impact from preconception air pollution exposure on their children's growth trajectories.

To elucidate the mechanisms of ozone gas (OG) and slight acid electrolyzed water (SA) on the quality changes in texture, water-holding capacity, and softening of salmon, the bacterial growth, total volatile basic nitrogen, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance, a* value, texture properties, carbonyl content and free sulfhydryl content, myofibrillar fragmentation index, and proteolytic activities of salmon treated by OG (1 mg/m for 10 min) and SA (ACC 30 mg/L, 5 min) individually and in combination were studied. The results showed that total viable counts of SA + OG (dipped in SAEW for 5 min, followed by exposure to ozone for 10 min) was about 3.36 log CFU/g lower than the control (CK) (dipped in distilled water for 5 min) on day 10.
