Autophagy regulates intermittent hypoxia (IH)-induced obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). We investigated the effects of IH and its withdrawal on cognitive function, autophagy, and lysophagy in OSAHS. An OSAHS rat model was established, and rats were divided into five groups: normoxia control, IH-4w (4-week IH), IH-6w (6-week IH), IH-8w (8-week IH), and IH-8w + 4w (8-week IH and 4-week normoxia).

Article Synopsis
  • Acute hypoxic respiratory failure (AHRF) is a major reason for pediatric intensive care unit admissions, and the effectiveness of non-invasive respiratory support (NRS) in treating children is still uncertain.
  • This study aims to review and compare different NRS modalities' efficacy and safety for children suffering from AHRF through a network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
  • Methodology includes searching key medical databases for recent studies, assessing biases, and analyzing outcomes like mortality and intubation rates using statistical software, with comprehensive evaluations to determine the quality of evidence.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) in infants with a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Method: A literature search was conducted in April 2023, using databases such as Cochrane Library, PubMed, MEDLINE, CNKI, and SinoMed, without language restrictions. Eligible studies included cross-sectional studies reporting the prevalence of DDH among infants aged 0-12 months.

The association of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and mean platelet volume (MPV) with the severe gastrointestinal (GI) involvement in pediatric Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP) has been reported in many studies. However, the conclusions from the previous studies were controversial. Therefore, for the first time, we performed a meta-analysis to systematically evaluate the relationship of NLR and MPV to the severe GI involvements.

Oxidative stress plays an essential role in obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome-induced cognitive dysfunction in children. This study investigated the effects of edaravone, a potent free radical scavenger, on intermittent hypoxia (IH)-induced oxidative damage and cognition impairment in a young rat model of IH. IH rats were treated with edaravone for 4 weeks.

Background: To date, the relationship of Th17 and Treg cells to Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) in children remains controversial. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to reveal the potential role of the Th17 and Treg cells in children in acute stage of HSP.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI) were systematically searched for eligible studies up to November 03, 2017.
