Coenzyme Q (CoQ) is essential for energy production by mitochondrial respiration, and it is a supplement most often used to promote cardiovascular health. Although Alzheimer's disease (AD) and intracranial aneurysm (IA) were two different types of diseases that occurred in the brain, ruptured IA (RIA) survivors may experience varying degrees of cognitive dysfunction. Neither AD nor IA is easily recognizable by an early onset so that the incidence of adverse clinical outcomes would be on the rise. Therefore, we focused on the exploration of the shared genes and molecular mechanisms between AD and IA, which would be significant for the efficiency of co-screening and co-diagnosis.

In the present study, an engineered interleukin-2 (IL-2) fusion protein consisting of an anti-human serum albumin nanobody linked by ASTKG and a (GS) linker to IL-2 was constructed. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) characterization was performed on the intact molecule and at the peptide level. The LC-MS molecular mass analysis for the engineered fusion protein showed the appearance of unreported +340 Da peaks, apart from the expected O-glycosylation-related peaks in the IL-2 domain.

Mai-Luo-Shu-Tong pill is an effective traditional Chinese medicine formula for the treatment of superficial thrombophlebitis, but it was insufficiently chemically scrutinized. In this study, the mass spectral data of Mai-Luo-Shu-Tong pill were acquired by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with Q Exactive hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry. It has not been clarified whether the anti-atherosclerotic effect of lingonberry can be ascribed to its content of flavonoids or dietary fibre or both. The aim of this study was to evaluate the metabolic effects of whole lingonberries compared with isolated flavonoid and fibre fractions on atherosclerotic plaques, plasma lipid profiles, gut microbiota and microbiota-dependent metabolites in an mouse model. Mice fed whole lingonberries showed the lowest amount of atherosclerotic plaques, while mice fed the fibre fraction had the highest formation of caecal butyric acid.
