Rationale: The incidence of venous thromboembolism is increasing, and it is more common in older than in younger patients. Inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombosis is a rare subtype of deep vein thrombosis, and it is associated with a high incidence of arterial and venous thrombosis in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We present the case of a 25-year-old female patient with a large IVC thrombosis caused by SLE that was intractable to thrombolytic therapy.

Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of chronic inflammatory diseases with shared clinical characteristics and is treated with biological agents; however, their use may elevate the risk of MTB and NTM infections. This study aimed to compare the incidence and risk of MTB and NTM infections in patients with SpA, including ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), using a population-based approach.

Due to limited evidence, researchers investigated the risk factors associated with uveitis in patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis. A retrospective study was conducted on 71 pulmonary sarcoidosis patients, including 19 with uveitis and 52 without.

Rationale: Pulmonary manifestations of Sjögren syndrome (SS) are variable and may involve the airway or lung parenchyma and increase the risk of vascular and malignant disease. However, to date, only one case of pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (AVM) has been reported in a patient with SS. Here, we report a rare case of recurrent pulmonary AVMs with aggravating multiple cysts in a patient with SS during a period of 14 years.

The aim of this study was to investigate epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation status in lung adenocarcinoma-associated MPEs (LA-MPEs) and its correlation with efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy.
Materials And Methods: Samples comprised 40 cell blocks of pathologically-confirmed LA-MPEs collected before the start of EGFR TKI therapy.
Background/aims: The purpose of the present study was to assess the prevalence of and factors associated with anxiety and depression in Korean patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer.
Methods: One hundred and twenty consecutive patients with newly diagnosed, advanced gastrointestinal cancer who were scheduled to receive palliative chemotherapy between July 2012 and June 2014 were enrolled in this observational prospective study. Anxiety and depression were assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9).
Purpose: Dexamethasone is a mainstay antiemetic regimen for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the incidence of and factors associated with steroid-induced diabetes in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy with dexamethasone as an antiemetic.
Materials And Methods: Non-diabetic patients with newly diagnosed gastrointestinal cancer who received at least three cycles of highly or moderately emetogenic chemotherapy with dexamethasone as an antiemetic were enrolled.
