Histone deacetylases (HDACs) have emerged as compelling targets in developing anticancer therapeutics. This study outlines the development, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel hydroxamic acid derivatives featuring a 2-oxoindoline scaffold, which exhibit high HDAC inhibitory activity and potential anticancer effects. Three series of N-hydroxycinnamamides, N-hydroxyheptanamides, and N-hydroxybenzamides were synthesized and assessed for their biological activity.

Background: The phase 2 randomised Young-PEARL study demonstrated that palbociclib plus exemestane with ovarian function suppression significantly prolonged progression-free survival compared with capecitabine in premenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer. Here, we report results of the protocol-specified secondary endpoint of overall survival.
Methods: Young-PEARL was a multicentre, randomised, open-label, phase 2 study conducted at 14 institutions in South Korea.
While IGZO is emerging as a promising channel material to address the scaling limitations of conventional silicon-based DRAM, its application in next-generation 3D DRAM requires further advancements in achieving ultrathin structures and excellent performance tailored to DRAM characteristics. Specifically, optimizing process variables is essential for enhancing mobility in ultrathin structures, where mobility tends to degrade significantly, while maintaining a constant threshold voltage, a task that is both experimentally intensive and resource-demanding. This study employed multi-objective Bayesian optimization (MOBO) machine learning (ML) to simultaneously optimize multiple electrical objectives, aiming to achieve high mobility and a near-zero threshold voltage for ultrathin IGZO thin-film transistors (TFTs) under complex sputtering conditions, involving a wide range of possible combinations of Ar gas flow, sputtering power, and working pressure.

To restore the biological function of injured kidney, there is a need to protect renal tubular epithelial cells (RTECs) and regulate M1 macrophages, responsible for progress of AKI. Herein, based on metabolic glycoengineering-mediated click chemistry, we prepare the engineered extracellular vesicles (pSEVs), derived from PEGylated hyaluronic acid (HA)-modified mesenchymal stem cells.

The CREATE-X study demonstrated a survival benefit from adjuvant capecitabine (adjC) in breast cancer patients, especially for TNBC populations. Because the landscape of early TNBC treatment has been changing rapidly, an optimal adjuvant strategy for real-world practice is needed.

We developed and validated an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system for evaluating AS that is effective in both resource-limited and advanced settings.
Methods: We created a dual-pathway AI system for AS evaluation using a nationwide echocardiographic dataset (developmental dataset, n = 8427): 1) a deep learning (DL)-based AS continuum assessment algorithm using limited 2D TTE videos, and 2) automating conventional AS evaluation.
(Homo)acetogens, including Clostridium spp., represent an enigma in metabolic flexibility and diversity. Eubacterium callanderi KIST612 is an acetogen that produces n-butyrate with carbon monoxide (CO) as the carbon and energy source; however, the production route is unknown.

However, aging PLWH face a growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), polypharmacy, and drug-drug interactions (DDIs), which pose challenges in their management. This study investigates the prevalence of NCDs, polypharmacy, and DDIs among PLWH aged ≥50 years in Korea and their impact on quality of life (QOL).

Based on the updated classification of the NEN, we conducted a case series using the Clinical Data Warehouse platform of SMC.
Methods: In this retrospective study, breast NENs and invasive breast carcinomas no special type (IBCNST) with NED, were defined as 'NENS'.
Nanographenes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, both finite forms of graphene, are promising organic semiconducting materials because their optoelectronic and magnetic properties can be modulated through precise control of their molecular peripheries. Several atomically precise edge structures have been prepared by bottom-up synthesis; however, no systematic elucidation of these edge topologies at the molecular level has been reported. Herein, we describe rationally designed modular syntheses of isomeric dibenzoixenes with diverse molecular peripheries, including cove, zigzag, bay, fjord, and gulf structured.

In this study, Bayesian optimization (BO), an algorithm recognized for its efficiency in optimizing material design, is applied to guide the design of a channel layer composed of IZO and IGZO. The sputtering fabrication process, which has attracted attention as an oxide semiconductor channel layer deposition method, is fine-tuned using ML to enhance multiple electrical characteristics of transistors: field-effect mobility, threshold voltage, and subthreshold swing.

This results in symptoms of testosterone deficiency syndrome (TDS) as testosterone levels decline. Consequently, there is a growing need for alternative therapies, such as phytotherapy, to regulate testosterone secretion.

We established an endometrium-embryo (or embryoid bodies, hEBs) in vitro model in 2D and 3D conditions and assessed its potential through the fusion of embryos and the expression of specific markers.
Methods: C57BL/6 mouse embryos and human embryoid body (hEB) derived from embryonic stem cells were prepared as embryo models.
Exercise not only regulates neurotransmitters and synapse formation but also enhances the function of multiple brain regions, beyond cortical activation. Prolonged aerobic or resistance exercise modality has been widely applied to reveal the beneficial effects on the brain, but few studies have investigated the direct effects of different exercise modalities and variations in exercise intensity on the neuroinflammatory response in the brain and overall health. Therefore, in this study, we investigated changes in brain cells and the immune environment of the brain according to exercise modalities.

Linear staplers, widely used for pulmonary or bowel resection, consist of three rows of fasteners on both sides of a resection line. Although multiple rows of fasteners ensure stump and specimen closure, specimen could compromise accurate pathological evaluation of the true surgical margin.

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) remains a key biomarker for the diagnosis and monitoring of prostate cancer (PCa). For patients within the 'PSA gray zone', the positive predictive value (PPV) of PSA for PCa detection by biopsy is estimated to be between 30 and 42%. In the present study, a single-center, retrospective, evaluator-blinded, pilot and pivotal clinical trial was performed to assess the clinical performance of the mirCaP kit (Urotech, Inc.

Purpose: This study aimed to adapt and validate the Korean version of the Caregiver Burden Questionnaire for Family Caregivers of Hemodialysis Patients, originally developed by Hejazi et al. in 2022, to ensure its applicability and validity in Korea.
Methods: Using both online and offline approaches, this study included 230 family caregivers.
Background And Objectives: Although various cardiac parameters on echocardiography have clinical importance, their measurement by conventional manual methods is time-consuming and subject to variability. We evaluated the feasibility, accuracy, and predictive value of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based automated system for echocardiographic analysis in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
Methods: The AI-based system was developed using a nationwide echocardiographic dataset from five tertiary hospitals, and automatically identified views, then segmented and tracked the left ventricle (LV) and left atrium (LA) to produce volume and strain values.
This study aims to evaluate the effect of the virtual-reality-based education program (VR-EduBPSD) for managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Sixty-six family caregivers of people with dementia were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group following a 1:1 ratio. The experimental group received VR-EduBPSD while the control group received analogous paper-based educational materials.

Unlabelled: The Macklin effect plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of spontaneous pneumomediastinum. It is the process by which is there is a blunt alveolar rupture that leads to air dissection through the bronchopulmonary sheaths and spreads into the mediastinum. Theoretically, marijuana use can cause spontaneous pneumomediastinum indirectly by inducing rigorous vomiting.
