The design and synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with outstanding light-harvesting and photoexcitation for artificial photocatalytic CO reduction is an attractive but challenging task. In this work, a novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active ligand, tetraphenylpyrazine (PTTBPC) is proposed and utilized for the first time to construct a Zr-MOF photocatalyst via coordination with stable Zr-oxo clusters. Zr-MOF is featured by a scu topology with a two-fold interpenetrated framework, wherein the PTTBPC ligands enable strong light-harvesting and photoexcitation, while the Zr-oxo clusters facilitate CO adsorption and activation, as well as offer potential sites for further metal modification.

Coordination polymers (CPs) are promising for direct X-ray detection and imaging owing to higher designability and outstanding stability, however, it remains a challenge to achieve highly X-ray detection performance, particularly both high sensitivity and low detection limit at the same operating voltage. Herein, we construct a new conjugated CP {[Co(BPTTz)(DIPA)] ⋅ DMA} (1, BPTTz=2,5-bis(pyridine-4-yl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole, HDIPA=2,5-diiodoterephthalic acid, DMA=N, N'-dimethylacetamide), with multi-channel charge transfer by regulating the linker mediated electronic-state, which reduces carrier losses resulting from recombination or quenching, enhances the efficiency of charge separation and transfer, thus further optimizes X-ray detection performance. The semiconductor prepared based on this strategy achieves record values including the highest mobility-lifetime product (μτ, 8.

Matrix immobilization has been proven to be a favored method for enhancing the phosphorescence of carbon dots (CDs), however, it remains a significant challenge to realize time-dependent phosphorescence colors (TDPC) by embedding CDs with single emission center. In this study, we present a novel matrix-controlling strategy to regulate the microenvironment of CDs by doping limited Mn in zeolite. The surrounding environment influences the surface state of the CDs, leading to the formation of different excitons.

The synthesis of hackmanite has been a topic of research for nearly 100 years, but up to now, the reported synthesis methods inevitably use reducing H to introduce the F-center through high-temperature calcination to make it change color, which extremely hinders its energy efficient large-scale synthesis before commercial applications. Herein, we present a facile route to synthesize hackmanite by using organic sulfur source thiourea as a precursor in a mild and hydrogen-free process. The synthesized hackmanite exhibits UVC-specific response, fast response, high contrast coloring, and fast fading at room temperature.

Afterglow materials with time-dependent color output emerge as huge prospects in advanced optical information encryption but remain a formidable challenge due to the limited exciton transfer from a single emission center. Here, multiple time-dependent afterglow color evolutions are achieved by the strategy of controllable assembly of dual carbon dots (CDs) with an individual afterglow color and decay rate into an RHO zeolite. The strategy possesses high controllability such that B-CDs and G-CDs can be independently generated and in situ embedded into a matrix; in particular, the doped amount of two kinds of CDs can be adjusted conveniently to produce interesting variable afterglow colors.
