Antegrade wiring (AW) is the prevailing chronic total occlusion (CTO) crossing technique. For proximal cap ambiguity, the Global CTO consensus group uses the "anatomy dictates strategy" method: 1) intravascular ultrasound; 2) move the cap; or 3) retrograde. For CTO body crossing, anatomy dictates 4 strategies: 1) CTOs with tapered stump-loose tissue tracking; 2) CTOs with clear intimal path-intentional intimal tracking with 3-dimensional (3D) wiring; 3) CTOs without a clear intimal path-intentional intimal tracking with intermediate penetration wire; and 4) the "long plus CTOs"-intentional subintimal wiring.

Article Synopsis
  • Patients with secondary mitral regurgitation (sMR) and coronary artery disease (CAD) who undergo percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) often face increased mortality and other health issues, with their condition being influenced by specific risk factors.
  • This study examined the significance of the wall motion score index (WMSI) as a prognostic tool in predicting outcomes for sMR patients after PCI, revealing that around 40% still had severe sMR shortly after the procedure.
  • Findings indicate that a higher WMSI after PCI is linked to worse outcomes, including persistent sMR, worsening heart failure, and increased mortality risk, highlighting the need for ongoing monitoring of WMSI in these patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between stress hyperglycemia and contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) in patients undergoing coronary angiography (CAG), highlighting how dysglycemia plays a crucial role in this context.
  • Using a large cohort of 19,965 participants, the research found a reverse J-shaped association between the stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) and the occurrence of CA-AKI, indicating that both low and high SHR values may be linked to higher injury risk.
  • The findings suggest that assessing SHR prior to CAG can help identify patients at greater risk of CA-AKI, enhancing the predictive accuracy of existing models like the Mehran score.

In this paper, the MnO catalysts with excellent toluene oxidation performance were prepared by a simple precipitation method. The physicochemical properties of the prepared MnO catalysts were investigated by XRD, BET, H-TPR, O-TPD and XPS. The obtained results revealed that the crystallinity of the prepared MnO catalysts could be effectively regulated by changing the (NH)CO/Mn(NO) molar ratio, and thus affecting the oxygen vacancy concentration of the prepared MnO catalysts.
