Preeclampsia (PE) is a significant complication of pregnancy, occurring in approximately 10% of pregnancies. However, the underlying mechanisms of this condition remain unclear. Placentation and tumorigenesis both share many characteristics, but PE is the result of insufficient placentation, in contrast to the overaggression of tumorigenesis.

However, the underlying mechanisms of these interactions remain unclear. In this study we conducted a mesocosm experiment to explore the periphyton response to grazing pressure by the freshwater snail in relation to food quality indicated by polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) biomarkers, including eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n3) and the 22C fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n3), which are essential for cell growth and reproduction and cannot be synthesized by most consumers of periphyton.

Despite the availability of multiple treatment options for breast cancer, challenges such as adverse events, drug resistance, and disease progression persist for patients. The identification of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) as an oncogenic driver in a subset of breast cancers, alongside the development of HER2-targeted therapies, has significantly improved the prognosis of HER2-amplified breast cancers. However, therapeutic options remain limited for HER2-overexpressing or HER2-negative breast cancers.

Previous studies have shown that patients with language-concordant providers had higher ratings of satisfaction and trust. Despite this, there is a shortage of Mandarin-speaking primary care physicians in California.

Methods: A total of 39 CRAB strains isolated from hospitalized patients in the ICU and neurosurgical ICU (NICU) between 2020 and 2023 were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing and whole-genome sequencing (WGS). Virulence factor genes (VFGs), antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs), multilocus sequencing typing (MLST), complete genome multilocus sequencing typing (cgMLST), average nucleotide identity (ANI), and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analyses were performed using WGS.
The preclinical evaluation of drug-induced cardiotoxicity is critical for developing novel drug, helping to avoid drug wastage and post-marketing withdrawal. Although human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) and the engineered heart organoid have been used for drug screening and mimicking disease models, they are always limited by the immaturity and lack of functionality of the cardiomyocytes. In this study, we constructed a Cardiomyocytes-on-a-Chip (CoC) that combines micro-grooves (MGs) and circulating mechanical stimulation to recapitulate the well-organized structure and stable beating of myocardial tissue.

Vaccination remains one of the most effective methods for preventing COVID-19. While most of the antigenic regions are found in the receptor binding domain (RBD), the N-terminal domain (NTD) of the S protein is another crucial region for inducing neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) against COVID-19.

The most common drugs currently used to treat lung diseases are still chemical drugs, but this may lead to drug resistance and damage to healthy organs in the body. Therefore, developing new drugs is an urgent task.

Background: Pulmonary embolism (PE) as a preventable and potentially fatal noncommunicable disease was believed to have a lower incidence in Asian populations compared to Western populations. However, the incidence and mortality rates of PE in China and the impact of venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention system constructions on PE still lack nationwide evidence.
Methods: For this nationwide hospital-based observational study, we used data from the National Hospital Quality Monitoring System (HQMS) and public database in China.
Background: The neural mechanisms underlying freezing of gait (FOG) in Parkinson's disease (PD) have not been completely comprehended. Sensory-motor integration dysfunction was proposed as one of the contributing factors. Here, we investigated short-latency afferent inhibition (SAI) and long-latency afferent inhibition (LAI), and analyzed their association with gait performance in FOG PD patients, to further validate the role of sensorimotor integration in the occurrence of FOG in PD.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed MR images of fetuses with ICH on screening ultrasound (US) on picture archiving communication system (PACS) servers within a nearly ten-year period from two medical tertiary centres. The indications, main abnormal findings and coexistent anomalies were recorded by two experienced radiologists with census readings.
Chinese milk vetch (CMV) is widely recognized as the leading leguminous green manure utilized in the rice-green manure rotation system throughout southern China. While bacteria that form symbiotic relationships with CMV are responsible for fixing a significant portion of nitrogen (N) within agroecosystems. diazotrophic organisms play an essential role in the N cycle and enhance the pool of N readily accessible to plants.

Methods: 137 patients with VSCC at SYSUCC were retrospectively analyzed. The Kaplan-Meier method assessed the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) time.
China is the largest producer and consumer of tobacco ( L.) in the world, and the cultivation and production of tobacco have extremely high economic value and social influence. Applying organic-inorganic fertilizer is a key strategy for boosting tobacco yield and quality.

However, its photosynthetic efficiency, a pivotal determinant of yield, remains relatively low compared with other C plants such as rice and soybean, highlighting the necessity of identifying the genetic loci and genes regulating photosynthesis in rapeseed.

We previously showed that PP2A regulates the differentiation of CD4 T cells and the development of thymocytes. Nevertheless, its role in CD8 T cells remains elusive.
