Ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) is a significant global public health issue, with its pathophysiology encompassing atherosclerotic plaque formation, thrombosis, hypoperfusion, ischemic cell death, and left ventricular remodeling. Lactate is not only regarded as an energy metabolite but also acts as a signaling molecule that influences various physiological processes, regulating metabolism and muscle contraction. Lactylation, an emerging epigenetic modification, affects protein functionality and gene expression through the P300 enzyme.

Background: Since rubella was incorporated into the national disease surveillance system in 2004, rubella incidence has changed dramatically. This study analyzed the impact of immunization strategies on the age-specific and sex-specific incidence of rubella in China from 2004 to 2023 to inform efforts to accelerate rubella elimination.

Methods: Annual rubella-containing vaccine (RCV) coverage levels, reported rubella cases and incidence, and vaccination status of cases were obtained from the National Immunization Program Information Management System, the National Notifiable Diseases Reporting System, and the Measles Surveillance System, and used to describe temporal trends.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent research has revealed that the brain contains a glymphatic system and meningeal lymphatic vessels, challenging the old belief that it is immune-privileged and devoid of a lymphatic system.
  • These findings open up new possibilities for clearing waste and treating central nervous system diseases by enhancing the function of these lymphatic pathways.
  • The review examines the development and role of the cerebral lymphatic system, while proposing strategies for improving its functionality, enhancing drug delivery options, and discussing future research directions.

Introduction: In recent years, the incidence of measles in China has consistently remained below 1 per 100,000 population, yet the disease has not been eliminated. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the epidemiological characteristics of measles from 2005 to 2022, identify high-risk populations and areas, and propose targeted interventions.

Methods: We utilized data from the China Disease Prevention and Control Information System for our comprehensive analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • - FMX101 4% is a topical foam formulation of minocycline approved for treating moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris, and a study was conducted to evaluate its effectiveness and safety among Chinese patients.
  • - In a phase 3 trial involving 372 subjects, results showed that FMX101 4% led to a significant reduction in inflammation lesion count (ILC) and noninflammatory lesion count (nILC), along with a higher treatment success rate compared to a control foam after 12 weeks.
  • - The treatment was generally safe and well-tolerated, with mostly mild-to-moderate side effects and no serious adverse events linked to the treatment.

Capillary hemangiomas, usually found in skin and mucosal tissues, are rarely encountered within the spinal cord, presenting a significant diagnostic challenge. We report a rare case of intradural extramedullary capillary hemangioma at the conus medullaris in a 66-year-old female patient. Our initial diagnosis leaned towards a cystic hemangioblastoma based on MRI findings due to the presence of cystic formation with an enhanced mural nodule.

Background: With the aging population and the ongoing pandemic, older persons account for a large proportion of ICU admissions. Despite numerous studies on the impact of COVID-19 on older persons, there has been a small body of research investigating nursing practice with critically ill older patients admitted to ICU for COVID-19.

Aims: To explore current challenges in the nursing care of older persons with severe COVID-19 through the experience of frontline nurses.

Background: Intracranial cavernous hemangiomas (CHs) usually originate from the cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres, while the clinical features and optimum treatment of CHs that originate from atypical locations remain unclear.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of CHs that originated from the sellar, suprasellar, or parasellar region, the ventricular system, the cerebral falx, or the meninges in patients who underwent surgery from 2009 to 2019 in our department.

Results: In our study, fourteen patients with pathologically confirmed CHs in uncommon locations (UCHs) were enrolled; 5 were located at the sellar or parasellar region, 3 at the suprasellar region, 3 at the ventricular system, 2 at the cerebral falx, and 1 originated from parietal meninges.

Objective: Acoustic neuroma (AN) is a common benign tumor. Little is known of neuropsychological studies in patients with acoustic neuroma, especially cognitive neuropsychology, and the neuropsychological abnormalities of patients affect their life quality. The purpose of this study was to explore the changes in the cognitive function of patients with acoustic neuroma, and the possible mechanism of these changes by structural magnetic resonance imaging.

Background: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) and high-grade glioma (HGG) appear similar under imaging. However, since the two tumors vary in their treatment methods, their differential diagnosis is crucial. The use of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) imaging to effectively distinguish between the two tumors is not clear; therefore, a meta-analysis was carried out to determine its effectiveness.
