Pharmacokinetic evaluation of differential drug release formulations of rabeprazole in dogs.

To develop novel dual release prototype capsule formulations of rabeprazole and evaluation of pharmacokinetic properties relative to the reference product (Aciphex) in Beagle dogs. The dual release prototype formulations of rabeprazole were developed by preparing optimized mini-tablets core which was subsequently coated with barrier/enteric coating using standard excipients. Both novel prototype formulations were subjected for release and assay by HPLC-UV to assess long term stability.

Targeted delivery of monoclonal antibody conjugated docetaxel loaded PLGA nanoparticles into EGFR overexpressed lung tumour cells.

The aim of this study was to develop anti-EGFR antibody conjugated poly(lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles (NPs) to target epidermal growth factor receptor, highly expressed on non-small cell lung cancer cells to improve cytotoxicity and site specificity. Cetuximab was conjugated to docetaxel (DTX) loaded PLGA NPs by known EDC/NHS chemistry and characterised for size, zeta potential, conjugation efficiency and the results were 128.4 ± 3.

Incidence of childhood dermatosis in India.

The incidence ofdermatologic conditions in the pediatric age group presents a pattern that often differs from that in adults; this is important for epidemiologic studies and population-based analysis. This clinical study was carried out in children up to age 14 in the western part of India. Dermatologic conditions were tabulated based on the etiology, incidence, age, and sex distribution, as well as seasonal variations, and the results were analyzed.

Phenytoin-associated hypersensitivity syndrome with features of DRESS and TEN/SJS.

Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) are rare and life-threatening conditions that may be precipitated by anticonvulsive agents. We describe a patient with overlapping features of these hypersensitivity syndromes.

Ecthyma gangrenosum caused by Escherichia coli bacteremia: a case report and review of the literature.

Ecthyma gangrenosum (EG) is a serious and well-recognized cutaneous condition. Development of EG is most commonly associated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa septicemia. Other organisms, such as Escherichia coli, have been identified less often as the cause of EG.

Newer technologies/techniques and tools in the diagnosis of melanoma.

A number of non-invasive approaches have been developed over the years to provide an objective means of evaluating and diagnosing skin melanoma. However, the current gold-standard in melanoma diagnosis is the examination of a skin lesion by the trained eye of a physician followed by histological examination of an invasive excisional biopsy of the skin specimen. Diagnosis of melanoma by simple visual examination is incorrect in almost 1 out of every 3 melanoma diagnoses.

Understanding the organisation and role of myosin binding protein C in normal striated muscle by comparison with MyBP-C knockout cardiac muscle.

Myosin binding protein C (MyBP-C) is a component of the thick filament of striated muscle. The importance of this protein is revealed by recent evidence that mutations in the cardiac gene are a major cause of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Here we investigate the distribution of MyBP-C in the A-bands of cardiac and skeletal muscles and compare this to the A-band structure in cardiac muscle of MyBP-C-deficient mice.

Evaluating the tolerability and efficacy of etanercept compared to triamcinolone acetonide for the intralesional treatment of keloids.

Background: Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is a proinflammatory and profibrotic cytokine that inhibits degradation of collagen and glycosaminoglycans. Etanercept, a recombinant TNF-alpha receptor fusion protein, may decrease excessive fibrous tissue in keloids.

Objective: To evaluate the tolerability and efficacy of etanercept as compared to triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) for the treatment of keloids.
