Article Synopsis
  • The study compared freehand transperineal prostate biopsy (FTPB) and systematic transperineal prostate biopsy (STPB) in patients suspected of having prostate cancer, focusing on their effectiveness, safety, and tolerance.
  • Out of 218 patients evaluated, prostate cancer was detected in 129 individuals, with FTPB identifying fewer total cases but a higher rate of clinically significant prostate cancer.
  • The findings indicate that FTPB performed under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting is safe, well-tolerated, and serves as an effective alternative to STPB without the need for antibiotics.

The formation of human collagen requires the presence of Prolyl 3-hydroxylase 1 (P3H1), but the regulatory mechanism of P3H1 remained insufficiently understood. Our study aimed to identify the role of P3H1 in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). P3H1 expression in ccRCC was validated using multiple databases and in vitro experiments.

Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of preoperative neoadjuvant everolimus in renal angiomyolipomas (AML) patients with or without Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC).

Materials And Methods: This multi-institutional retrospective study enrolled renal AML patients who underwent partial nephrectomy (PN) or total nephrectomy after receiving at least 1 month of pre-operative everolimus. Imaging evaluations were collected before and after treatment, along with demographic, surgical, and follow-up information.

Background: This systematic review and network meta-analysis aimed to assess the comparative effectiveness and safety profiles of current combination therapies based on androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for the heterogeneous population of individuals with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC).

Methods: We retrieved pertinent literature from PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov, and international conference databases.

Background: Zinc Finger Protein 337 (ZNF337) is a novel Zinc Finger (ZNF) protein family member. However, the roles of ZNF337 in human cancers have not yet been investigated.

Methods: In this study, with the aid of TCGA databases, GTEx databases, and online websites, we determined the expression levels of ZNF337 in pan-cancer and its potential value as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for pan-cancer and analyzed the relationship between ZNF337 expression and immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint genes.

Article Synopsis
  • A new multi-classifier system combines lncRNA, deep learning from whole slide images, and clinicopathological data to improve predictions of recurrence in localized papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) after surgery.
  • *The system shows significantly better predictive accuracy for recurrence-free survival (RFS) than using any single classifier alone, with C-index values ranging from 0.831 to 0.858.
  • *This method helps identify high-risk patients more accurately, allowing for individualized treatment strategies alongside the current cancer staging system.

Background: Peyronie's disease (PD) causes benign plaques or induration in tunica albuginea (TA). Kindlin-2 regulates the TGF-β1/Smad3 pathway, which accelerates kidney fibrosis. The study is aimed mainly to investigate the impact of Kindlin-2 on PD formation and its signaling pathways, notably the TGF-β/Smad pathway in the presence of TGF-β1.

Objective: Urolithiasis is a common urological diseases and affects the daily life of patients. Medical expulsive therapy has become acceptable for many parents. We conducted a meta-analysis to determine the efficacy and safety of tadalafil compared with tamsulosin for treating distal ureteral stones less than 10 mm in length.

Background: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue among males, and the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for treating ED has gained increasing attention, but there is still no conclusive evidence regarding its efficacy.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of PRP therapy for ED.

Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases up to November 2023 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on PRP therapy for ED.

Objective: We conducted a systematic evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy and complications of tolterodine and α-adrenergic receptor blockers in alleviating ureteral stent-related symptoms.

Methods: Until August 2023, we conducted a comprehensive literature search on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library to identify randomized controlled trials evaluating the efficacy and complications of tolterodine and α-adrenergic receptor blockers in treating ureteral stent-related symptoms. Two reviewers independently screened studies and extracted data.

Introduction: Peyronie's disease (PD) is a common penile disorder characterized by the formation of fibrous noncompliant hard nodules in the tunica albuginea of the penis. Collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) is an injectable drug that treats PD by enzymatically degrading plaque interstitial collagen. CCH has been used in patients with varying curvature, as well as in the acute and stable phases of the disease, through a variety of treatment regimens and combinations.

Background: The debate regarding the optimal drainage method for acute obstructive upper urinary tract infection persists, focusing on the choice between percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) and retrograde ureteral stenting (RUS).

Aims: This study aims to systematically examine the perioperative outcomes and safety associated with PCN and RUS in treating acute obstructive upper urinary tract infections.

Methods: A comprehensive investigation was conducted using the Medline, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases up to December 2022, following the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), a rare malignancy, typically originates in salivary glands and is rarely found in other locations. In this case report, we describe a 54-year-old male patient who was presented to the Urology Department of Yantai Yuhuangding hospital with right-sided waist pain. The patient underwent percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsies of lesions in the kidney and lung, which were histologically confirmed as primary adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lung and metastatic renal adenoid cystic carcinoma, respectively.

Introduction: Penile induration disease, commonly known as Peyronie's disease (PD), is a connective tissue disorder that affects the penis, leading to the development of fibrous plaques, penile curvature, and erectile dysfunction. PD is a common male reproductive system disease with a complex etiology involving multiple genes, signaling pathways, and different phenotypes.

Objectives: The etiology and pathogenesis of PD remain poorly understood, hindering the development of effective treatment strategies.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is an aggressive malignant tumor. Disulfidptosis is a new programmed cell death mechanism, which is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of intracellular disulfides that are highly toxic to cells. However, the contribution of disulfidptosis to ccRCC progression has not been fully clarified.
