Background: Adenosine accumulated in the tumor microenvironment functions as an immune-modulating factor, exerting immunosuppressive actions via adenosine A2A/A2B receptor (A2AR/A2BR) in various immune cell types. CD73, a key enzymatic regulator responsible for adenosine production, is frequently overexpressed in diverse cancers, and its overexpression is associated with reduced responsiveness to conventional anti-cancer drug treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. Despite numerous therapeutic applications of IL-2 in cancer immunotherapy, the relationship between the CD73-adenosine axis and IL-2-based immunotherapy remains largely unexplored.

Introduction: Ophthalmic involvement occurs in up to 40% of patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), usually confined to the anterior segment. Herein, we describe patients presenting with optic neuropathy as an early manifestation of GPA, without other signs of ocular or adnexa involvement.

Methods: We report a case of isolated optic neuropathy without other ocular or adnexal involvement and examine the reported clinical features of 17 additional patients through a literature review.

In 2007, the Bárány Society embarked on a project to establish definitions of vestibular syndromes and disorders based on best available evidence, referred to as the International Classification of Vestibular Disorders (ICVD). Since then, numerous publications providing consensus-driven diagnostic criteria for vestibular symptoms, syndromes, and disorders have been published. Although histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) is considered a therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease (AD), its role in cholinergic dysfunction in AD patients remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of ()-3-(2-(4-fluorostyryl)thiazol-4-yl)--hydroxypropanamide (4-FHA), a new synthetic HDAC6 inhibitor, on cognitive and memory impairments in a scopolamine-induced-AD mouse model. Behaviorally, 4-FHA improved scopolamine-induced memory impairments in the Y-maze, passive avoidance, and Morris water maze tests.

Background And Purpose: Superior semicircular canal dehiscence can be detected on temporal bone MR images. Radiologists often recommend confirmation with temporal bone CT due to reported lower MRI positive predictive value. The value of these recommendations is unclear given that CT overestimates dehiscence due to volume averaging and that only a small proportion of patients with dehiscence on CT suffer from dehiscence syndrome.

Alexander's law states that spontaneous nystagmus increases when looking in the direction of fast-phase and decreases during gaze in slow-phase direction. Disobedience to Alexander's law is occasionally observed in central nystagmus, but the underlying neural circuit mechanisms are poorly understood. In a retrospective analysis of 2,652 patients with posterior circulations stroke, we found a violation of Alexander's law in one or both directions of lateral gaze in 17 patients with lesions of unilateral lateral medulla affecting the vestibular nucleus.

Background: Family caregivers of patients with severe acute brain injury (SABI) are at risk for clinically significant chronic emotional distress, including depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress. Existing psychosocial interventions for caregivers of intensive care unit (ICU) patients are not tailored to the unique needs of caregivers of patients with SABI, do not demonstrate long-term efficacy, and may increase caregiver burden. In this study, we explored the needs and preferences for psychosocial services among SABI caregivers to inform the development and adaptation of interventions to reduce their emotional distress during and after their relative's ICU admission.

Objective: Acute unilateral peripheral vestibulopathy or vestibular neuritis (AUPV/VN) manifests as acute onset vertigo, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and moderate gait instability. It is suspected when vestibular hypofunction is documented on video-head impulse (video-HITs) and caloric tests in the presence of contralesionally beating horizontal-torsional nystagmus. Herein, we report patients presenting with acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) showing selective otolithic dysfunction in the presence of normal caloric and video-HITs and abnormal enhancement of the peripheral vestibular structures on MRI.

Managing type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) presents significant challenges because of the complexity of replicating the microenvironment of pancreatic islets and ensuring the long-term viability and function of transplanted insulin-producing cells (IPCs). This study developed a functional approach that utilizes 3D bioprinting technology to create pore-enriched and pre-vascularized tissue constructs incorporating a pancreatic tissue-derived decellularized extracellular matrix and human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) aimed at enhancing blood glucose regulation in T1DM. We designed a volumetric 3D pancreatic tissue construct that supported the engraftment, survival, and insulin-producing functionality of hiPSC-derived IPCs.
