Thyroid cancer (THCA) is the most common endocrine malignancy worldwide and has been rising at the fastest rate in recent years. Long-stranded non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and N6-methyladenosine (m6A) have been associated with immunotherapy efficacy and cancer prognosis. However, how m6A-associated lncRNAs (mrlncRNAs) affect the prognosis of patients with thyroid cancer is unclear.

Microchromosome maintenance (MCM) proteins are a number of nuclear proteins with significant roles in the development of cancer by influencing the process of cellular DNA replication. Of the MCM protein family, MCM10 is a crucial member that maintains the stability and extension of DNA replication forks during DNA replication and is significantly overexpressed in a variety of cancer tissues, regulating the biological behaviour of cancer cells. But little is understood about MCM10's functional role and regulatory mechanisms in a range of malignancies.

The retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I)-like receptors (RLRs) play a crucial role as pattern-recognition receptors within the innate immune system. These receptors, present in various cell and tissue types, serve as essential sensors for viral infections, enhancing the immune system's capacity to combat infections through the induction of type I interferons (IFN-I) and inflammatory cytokines. RLRs are involved in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, including viral infections, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study focused on understanding factors that influence fever and the duration of fever in young children with bacterial meningitis (BM), involving data from 49 centers in China over a span of more than two years.
  • - A total of 863 patients under three years old were analyzed, revealing that certain infections like coagulase negative staphylococcus led to less fever, while conditions such as septicaemia and ear-nose-throat infections were linked to higher fever rates.
  • - The research identified specific factors associated with delayed fever resolution, including infections like Streptococcus agalactiae, gastrointestinal infections, and complications such as encephalomalacia and subdural effusion, which could help in diagnosing and monitoring the severity of the

Dendrobium, which belongs to the family of Orchidaceae, is a highly valuable traditional Chinese medicine commonly used in China. It exerts pharmacological activities such as antitumor and hypoglycemia effects, and its main components are alkaloids, polysaccharides, and terpenoids, among others. In recent years, research on the clinical application of Dendrobium in antitumor therapy has gained increasing attention.

Background: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is an epidemic infectious disease in children, usually associated with fever, mouth lesions, and limb rashes. Although benign and self-limiting, it can be dangerous or even fatal in rare cases. Early identification of severe cases is crucial to ensure optimal care.

Introduction: Asthma and bronchiolitis in children are considered common clinical problems associated with gut microbiota. However, the exact relationship between gut microbiota and the above-mentioned diseases remains unclear. Here, we discussed recent advances in understanding the potential mechanism underlying immune regulation of gut microbiota on asthma and bronchiolitis in children as well as the role of the gut-lung axis.

Ubiquitin-like with plant homeodomain and ring finger domains 1 (UHRF1) promotes the maintenance of established patterns of DNA methylation in mammalian cells. Extensive methylation of connexin26 (COX26) during hearing impairment has been demonstrated. The present study aims to determine whether UHRF1 can induce the methylation of COX26 in cochlea damaged by intermittent hypoxia (IH).

BACKGROUND The GJB2 gene is reported to be the main hereditary factor responsible for non-syndromic hearing impairment in infants. Several kinds of hearing loss have been linked to elevated inflammatory markers. This study aimed to evaluate serum levels of IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, alpha-TNF, and γ-IFN and the severity of hearing loss.

Aims: To explore the contagiousness and new SARS-CoV-2 mutations in pediatric COVID-19.

Methods: This cohort study enrolled all pediatric patients admitted to 8 hospitals in Zhejiang Province of China between 21 January and 29 February 2020, their family members and close-contact classmates. Epidemiological, demographic, clinical and laboratory data were collected.

Background: Recent studies have reported associations between, human bocavirus (HBoV), and respiratory tract diseases in children. However, there is limited information on the epidemiology of HBoV in infants. This prospective study investigated the prevalence and clinical characteristics of HBoV infection in infants with acute lower respiratory tract infection (ALRTI) in eastern China.

A pandemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection broke out all over the world; however, epidemiological data and viral shedding in pediatric patients are limited. We conducted a retrospective, multicenter study, and followed-up with all children from the families with SARS-CoV-2 infected members in Zhejiang Province, China. All infections were confirmed by testing the SARS-CoV-2 RNA with real-time reverse transcription PCR method, and epidemiological data between children and adults in the same families were compared.

Objective: To study the clinical effect of pidotimod oral liquid as adjuvant therapy for infectious mononucleosis and its effect on T lymphocyte subsets.

Methods: A total of 76 children with infectious mononucleosis, who were admitted to the hospital between July 2016 and June 2017, were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: conventional treatment and pidotimod treatment (n=38 each). The children in the conventional treatment group were given antiviral therapy with ganciclovir for injection and symptomatic treatment.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the role of T lymphocyte immune imbalance and interleukin (IL)-10 gene polymorphism in the development of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in obese children.

Methods: One hundred obese children at high-risk and low-risk for OSA based upon a sleep questionnaire were selected. Peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets were measured by flow cytometry, and plasma IFN-γ, IL-4, and IL-10 cytokines were detected by ELISA.

Objective: To analyze the correlations between clinical features in paediatric patients with acute respiratory tract infection (ARTI) and viral load of human bocavirus.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 956 children < 5 years admitted with an acute respiratory tract infection from November 2009 to December 2010, and 251 healthy children conclused as control group in the corresponding period. Human bocavirus was investigated in nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPA) and throat swab by PCR, and viral load was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in HBoV positive sample.
