The diverse valences of iodine enable it with multi-electron transfer capability for energy dense batteries. However, previous studies indicate that the primary I/I redox couple exhibits distinct behaviors depending on electrolyte choice, with the mechanistic basis of aqueous versus nonaqueous systems remaining unclear. Here, we elucidated the solvent effect on iodine redox, particularly focusing on polyiodide formation and their molecular interaction correlations.

This paper breaks away from traditional approaches that merely emulate digital neural networks. Using Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) networks as a case study, we explore the impact of the inherent properties of analog computation on performance and identify the characteristics that optical neural networks (ONNs) components should possess to better adapt to these specific properties. Specifically, we examine the influence of analog computation on bias power and activation functions, as well as the impact of optical pruning on ONN's performance.

The low degradation rate of lignocellulose limits the humification process of citrus organic waste composting. This study explored the roles of general microbial inoculation (GM), citrus waste-derived function microbial inoculation (CM), and CM combined with biochar (CMB) in citrus waste compost. Results showed microbial inoculations all promoted lignocellulose degradation and humus formation, but the roles of CM and CMB were better than GM, especially CMB.

The multi-electron transfer I/IO redox couple is attractive for high energy aqueous batteries. Shifting from an acidic to an alkaline electrolyte significantly enhances the IO formation kinetics due to the spontaneous disproportionation reaction, while the alkaline environment also offers more favorable Zn anode compatibility. However, sluggish kinetics during the reduction of IO persists in both acidic and alkaline electrolytes, compromising the energy efficiency of this glorious redox couple.

One of the primary causes of urban atmospheric particulate matter, which is harmful to human health in addition to affecting air quality and atmospheric visibility, is road dust. This study used online monitoring equipment to examine the characteristics of road dust emissions, the effects of temperature, humidity, and wind speed on road dust, as well as the correlation between road and high-space particulate matter concentrations. A section of a real road in Jinhua City, South China, was chosen for the study.

Hypervalent organoiodine compounds have been extensively utilized in organic synthesis, yet their electrochemical properties remain unexplored despite their theoretically high redox potential compared with inorganic iodine, which primarily relies on the I/I redox couple in battery applications. Here, the fundamental redox mechanism of hypervalent organoiodine in a ZnCl aqueous electrolyte is established for the first time using the simplest iodobenzene (PhI) as a model compound. We validated that the PhI to PhICl transition is a single-step and reversible reaction, enabling two-electron transfer of I/I redox chemistry (1.

Deep eutectic electrolytes (DEEs) have attracted significant interest due to the unique physiochemical properties, yet challenges persist in achieving satisfactory Li anode compatibility through a binary DEE formula. In this study, we introduce a nonflammable binary DEE electrolyte comprising of lithium bis(trifluoro-methane-sulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) and solid butadiene sulfone (BdS), which demonstrates enhanced Li metal compatibility while exhibiting high Li ion migration number (0.52), ionic conductivity (1.

Carbon emissions trading policies play a crucial role in facilitating the transition to high-end products within high-carbon enterprises. Nevertheless, current empirical analyses of the carbon emissions trading market exhibit a lack of precision and are susceptible to bias in their findings. Limited research has been conducted on the influence of product quality as a potential constraint on the impact of carbon trading on product bargaining power.

In the pursuit of high-performance energy storage systems, four-electron zinc-iodine aqueous batteries (4eZIBs) with successive I/I/I redox couples are appealing for their potential to deliver high energy density and resource abundance. However, susceptibility of positive valence I to hydrolysis and instability of Zn plating/stripping in conventional aqueous electrolyte pose significant challenges. In response, polyethylene glycol (PEG 200) is introduced as co-solvent in 2 m ZnCl aqueous solution to design a wide temperature electrolyte.

Objectives: To use three-dimensional real inversion recovery (3D-real IR) MRI to investigate correlations between endolymphatic hydrops (EH) grades or the degree of perilymphatic enhancement (PE) and clinical features of Ménière's disease (MD), as previous findings have been inconsistent.

Methods: A total of 273 consecutive patients with definite unilateral MD were retrospectively enrolled from September 2020 to October 2021. All patients underwent 3D-real IR and 3D-T2WI 6 h after intravenous gadolinium injection.

The performance of aqueous zinc metal batteries is significantly compromised by the stability of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), which is intimately linked to the structure of the electrical double layer (EDL) between the zinc anode and electrolyte. Furthermore, understanding the mechanical behavior of SEI is crucial, as it governs its response to stress induced by volume changes, fracture, or deformation. In this study, we introduce l-glutamine (Gln) as an additive to regulate the adsorbed environment of the EDL and in situ produce a hybrid SEI consisting of ZnS and Gln-related species.

Difficulty in etching lithium niobate (LN) results in a relatively high propagation loss, which necessitates sophisticated processes to fabricate high-quality factor (Q) microresonators. Here, we fabricate a multimode microring resonator with an intrinsic Q of 6 × 10, which exhibits a propagation loss 50 times lower than that of a single-mode LN microring fabricated under the same process. Notably, the excitation of higher-order modes in the multimode microring is effectively suppressed by utilizing the Euler bend.

The zinc-copper redox couple exhibits several merits, which motivated us to reconstruct the rechargeable Daniell cell by combining chloride shuttle chemistry in a zinc chloride-based aqueous/organic biphasic electrolyte. An ion-selective interface was established to restrict the copper ions in the aqueous phase while ensuring chloride transfer. We demonstrated that the copper-water-chloro solvation complexes are the descriptors, which are predominant in aqueous solutions with optimized concentrations of zinc chloride; thus, copper crossover is prevented.
