Introduction: Sotorasib and adagrasib have been widely used for the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harboring Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) G12C mutation. It's necessary to assess their safety profiles in the real-world population.

Methods: A retrospective pharmacovigilance was conducted to examine adverse events (AEs) associated with sotorasib and adagrasib therapies using the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).

Large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) is susceptible to oxidative denaturation during storage. This work is to investigate the quality alterations by analyzing its physicochemical changes and proteomics throughout preservation under refrigeration, frozen, and slurry ice (SI) conditions. Results revealed that the freshness of large yellow croaker, as evaluated by indicators such as total volatile basic nitrogen, total viable count, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, was well maintained while stored in the SI group.

Chinese giant salamander skin collagen (CGSSC) was successfully conjugated with glucose (Glu)/xylose (Xy) by ultrasound Maillard reaction (MR) in nature deep eutectic solvents (NADES). The effects of ultrasound and reducing sugar types on the degree graft (DG) of MR products (MRPs), as well as the influence of DG on the structure and functional properties of MRPs were investigated. The results indicated that the ultrasound assisted could markedly enhance the MR of CGSSC, and low molecular weight reducing sugars were more reactive in MR.

Severe injuries to the peripheral nervous system (PNS) require Schwann cells to aid in neuronal regeneration. Low-frequency electrical stimulation is known to induce the cogrowth of neurons and Schwann cells in an injured PNS. However, the correlations between electrical stimulation and Schwann cell viability are complex and not well understood.

Various reports revealed that chemical constituents from many species of exhibit diverse biological activities. In this study, a novel flavonoid with a 2-(phenanthren-9-yl)-4-chromen-4-one structure (1), a 5-phenylthiophene-2-carbaldehyde derivative (5) first isolated from a natural source, together with five known compounds including three polyketides (2-4) and two sesquiterpenoids (6-7) were isolated from a traditional Chinese medicine S.Vidal (Rosaceae).

Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in the tumorigenesis and progression of various cancer types; however, their roles in the development of invasive pituitary adenomas (PAs) remain to be investigated.

Methods: lncRNA microarray analysis was performed for three invasive and three noninvasive PAs. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis were performed, and coexpression networks between lncRNA and mRNA were constructed.

Objective: The aims of this study were to investigate the long-term outcomes of primary versus postoperative Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) for benign meningiomas.

Methods: Three hundred and forty meningioma patients underwent GKRS were retrospectively reviewed. Patients in the postoperative GKRS group were matched to those in the primary GKRS group, in a 1:1 ratio.

Recently, photothermal therapy (PTT) has been recognized as a viable alternative strategy against bacterial biofilm infection. However, the hyperthermia required for PTT to ablate a biofilm usually induces damage in normal tissues/organs nearby. Herein, we developed zeolite-based imidazole framework (ZIF-8)-coated mesoporous polydopamine (MPDA) core-shell nanoparticles and then loaded Pifithrin-μ (PES), a natural inhibitor of heat-shock protein (HSP) that plays an essential role in bacteria resisting heating-induced damage.

Cisplatin-based regimens are commonly used for the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in patients who receive concurrent chemoradiotherapy. The sensitivity of NPC cells to cisplatin is closely associated with the efficacy of radiation therapy. In this study, we established two radioresistant NPC cell lines, HONE1-IR and CNE2-IR, and found that both cell lines showed reduced sensitivity to cisplatin.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on tumor regrowth after gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) in patients with nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs), analyzing data from 369 patients with a median age of 45.2 years and varying tumor sizes.* -
  • It reported a 6.5% rate of tumor regrowth after treatment, identifying risk factors such as parasellar invasion and low radiation doses (less than 12 Gy) that contributed to this regrowth, with average regrowth occurring around 86 months post-GKRS.* -
  • Repeat GKRS was performed on 12 patients, showing a 58.3% success rate in shrinking tumors, while overall tumor control rates after repeat GKRS were

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed 751 patients with pituitary adenomas treated with gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) to understand the incidence and risk factors for pituitary hemorrhage.
  • Out of the total patients, 17% experienced pituitary hemorrhage, with 11.7% occurring before GKRS and 7.3% developing afterward, particularly in patients with nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs).
  • NFPAs and suprasellar extension increased the risk of hemorrhage, suggesting that GKRS may not be a guaranteed success for these patients, as complications could lead to treatment failure.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the long-term effects of Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) on large or growing asymptomatic meningiomas in 59 patients, with a median age of 56 years and follow-up of around 67 months.
  • Results showed that 59.3% of tumors shrank, 39% remained stable, and only 1.7% progressed, indicating a high tumor control rate over time.
  • Complications included new neurological symptoms in 15.3% of patients and peritumoral edema (PTE) in 25.4%, with tumor size and maximum dose being significant risk factors for PTE.

Article Synopsis
  • - Multidrug resistance (MDR) complicates treatment for patients with metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and previous research indicates that microRNAs (miRNAs) could play a role in this resistance.
  • - The study focused on miR-125b, finding that its expression was more than 3 times lower in cisplatin-resistant CNE2 cells compared to non-resistant cells, suggesting a link between miR-125b and MDR.
  • - By increasing miR-125b levels in resistant cells, researchers achieved greater sensitivity to cisplatin, while inhibiting it led to reduced cytotoxicity and increased resistance, indicating miR-125b as a potential target for overcoming MDR in NPC

Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) is one of the preponderant egg parasitoids of Dendrolimus spp., which are important defoliators of coniferous forests. This parasitoid wasp has been widely released to control pine caterpillar and other lepidopteran pests, but its control efficiency needs to be improved.
