ASS1(argininosuccinate synthase 1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the urea cycle, catalyzing the synthesis of argininosuccinate from citrulline and aspartate to ultimately produce arginine and support cellular metabolism. Increasing evidence suggests that ASS1 is commonly dysregulated in the tumor microenvironment, promoting tumor cell metastasis and infiltration. With a deeper understanding of tumor metabolic reprogramming in recent years, the impact of ASS1 dysregulation on abnormal tumor metabolism has attracted growing interest among researchers.

Methods: A retrospective collection of 47 patients who underwent initial total hip arthroplasty at our hospital from August 2020 to December 2022 and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria was used as the study subjects. The average age was 67.
Objective: To present a young girl with pyruvate kinase deficiency (PKD) and concurrent severe hemolytic anemia who underwent fertility preservation and cryopreservation. Clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and new strategies for fertility protection and preservation in PKD patients who require allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell therapy are explored.
Case Presentation: Six-year-old girl with persistent unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia and severe hemolytic anemia since birth, continuous elevation of bilirubin levels and severe splenomegaly.
Objective: To evaluate treatment strategies for congenital intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (CIPSS) based on the experience of treating 27 children.
Methods: Between August 2017 and January 2024, our team treated 27 children with CIPSS. Twelve patients underwent surgical ligation of the portosystemic shunt, while 15 patients diagnosed prenatally received conservative treatment without surgery.
Ghrelin is an orexigenic peptide released by gastric ghrelin cells that contributes to obesity and hepatic steatosis. The mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 in gastric ghrelin cells inhibits the synthesis and secretion of ghrelin in response to gastric mechanical stretch. We sought to modulate hepatic lipid metabolism by manipulating Piezo1 in gastric ghrelin cells.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common form of kidney cancer, accounting for nearly 90 % of all renal malignancies. Despite the availability of various therapeutic strategies, RCC remains a challenging disease due to its resistance to conventional treatments.

Hepatic recompensation is firstly described in the Baveno VII criteria, which requires the fulfillment of strict criteria. First, a primary cause of cirrhosis must be addressed, suppressed, or cured. Second, complications of liver cirrhosis, including ascites, encephalopathy, and variceal hemorrhage, must disappear without any intervention.

This study aims to elucidate the potential mechanisms of Ginsenoside Re in treating NAFLD through a combination of bioinformatics analysis and biological experiments.
Methods: Network pharmacology methods were employed to systematically depict the effective components and mechanisms of Ginsenoside Re in improving NAFLD.
Soil microbes are crucial in shaping the root-associated microbial communities. In this study, we analyzed the effect of the soil-root niche gradient on the diversity, composition, and assembly of the bacterial community and co-occurrence network of two cotton varieties. The results revealed that the bacterial communities in cotton soil-root compartment niches exhibited a skewed species abundance distribution, dominated by abundant taxa showing a strong spatial specificity.

Few studies specifically explored the relationship between bone marrow lesions (BMLs) and long-term incident joint surgery.
Objective: To investigate the association between BML severity observed in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients' first MRI examination and incident knee surgery within 5 years.

Background: Ever since the GALAD (gender-age-Lens culinaris agglutinin-reactive alpha-fetoprotein-alpha-fetoprotein-des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin) logistic regression model was established to diagnose hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), there has been no high-level evidence that evaluates and summarizes it.
Objective: This meta-analysis was performed to assess the diagnostic ability of the GALAD model.
Methods: The following databases were systematically searched for original diagnostic studies on HCC: PubMed, Embase, Medline, the Web of Science, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Wanfang (China), Wiper and the Chinese BioMedical Literature Database.
Objective: Many complications but cortical blindness after percutaneous vertebroplasty has been rarely reported. Here, we describe a case who developed cortical blindness after percutaneous vertebroplasty. We also reviewed the literature to find the possible causes of this complication and its treatment.

It remains unclear whether X/A-like cells sense gastric distention and thus regulate ghrelin production. Here we show that PIEZO1 expression in X/A-like cells decreases in patients with obesity when compared to controls, whereas it increases after sleeve gastrectomy.

Purpose: Rex shunt is an optimal surgery for the treatment of extra-hepatic portal venous obstruction (EHPVO) in children. Anticoagulant therapy has been used to keep the patency of the bypass vein in the Rex shunt. This study was to investigate the effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy using heparin combined with Plavix in improving the prognosis and shunt patency of Rex shunt.

Methods: We identified all patients who visited our outpatient department and were clinically diagnosed with KOA between January 2010 and January 2018. We retrieved their demographic, clinical, and radiographic data from the database of our hospital.
Objective: To explore the mediating effect of sleep quality between social support and depressive symptoms in pregnant woman at the early pregnancy stage.
Methods: Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), social support revalued scale (SSRS), and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to investigate the sleep quality, social support status and depression of 269 pregnant women in early pregnancy in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Maternal and Child Health Hospital from July 2022 to December 2022. Pearson correlation analyses and Bootstrap were used to test the correlation and mediating effect between variables.
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate whether alcohol exposure and specific alcoholic drinks are independent risk factors for incident knee surgery in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients.
Methods: We identified all patients who were clinically diagnosed as KOA between January 2010 and January 2018 in our outpatient department. Demographic, clinical, and radiographic data were collected from the database of our hospital.
Fibrous dysplasia of bone (FDB) is a rare benign condition in which fibrous tissue replaces normal bone architecture. FDB rarely undergoes malignant transformation, but there are reports of locally aggressive fibrous dysplasia with cortical destruction and soft tissue extension. Diagnosis of FDB malignant transformation is not easy, especially in monostotic form, because of the overlap in imaging features of locally aggressive fibrous dysplasia and fibrous dysplasia with malignant transformation.
