Objective: Symptom Management Theory has been extensively used in guiding clinical practice to reduce patients' symptom burden, improve their outcomes and quality of life. However, concerning various participants, settings and methods, the effectiveness of practice and research based on the theory was inconsistent, which hindered the further implementation of this theory in clinical practice.
