Pollution remains one of the most significant global challenges. Photocatalysis consists of a new organic pollutant removal technology, with TiO widely studied as a photocatalyst in the photocatalytic removal of water pollution. However, intrinsic TiO has the disadvantages of weak visible light absorption, low electron separation, and transmission efficiency, as well as few active sites.

Article Synopsis
  • Photo-assisted electrocatalysis is a novel method for hydrogen generation that uses photocatalysts with electrocatalysts, improving efficiency;
  • The study creates an in situ heterojunction SnS@SnO, which shows a degradation rate of 92.75% for methyl orange (MO) within 1 hour, significantly outperforming pure SnS;
  • The synthesized FeNiS/SnS@SnO demonstrates enhanced oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance, indicating the effective electron transfer and strong photo-response capabilities of the new material.

Article Synopsis
  • - Recent research focuses on improving the photocatalytic efficiency of SnS materials for cleaning water through methods like doping and heterojunctions, but these methods have cost and scalability issues.
  • - This study synthesizes hexagonal SnS nanosheets of different sizes using a hydrothermal method and tests their effectiveness in degrading methyl orange (MO) and reducing hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)).
  • - Results show that smaller SnS nanosheets are more efficient under sunlight, achieving significant degradation of MO in 30 minutes and reduction of Cr(VI) in 105 minutes, due to their optimal energy bandgap and increased surface sulfur vacancies.

The discharge of organic pollutants by the textile and dyeing industries presents an escalating threat to aquatic environments, necessitating the development of effective remediation strategies. This study introduces the utilization of graphite-like structured activated carbon (AC), derived from highland barley straw-a biomass unique to the Plateau regions of China, including Tibet, Qinghai, and Gansu-as a support material for the TiO catalyst. TiO/AC composites with different TiO loadings were synthesized by ultrasonic impregnation.

Metabolic abnormality in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)can cause damage to the central nervous system,leading to cognitive decline.Neurofilament light chain protein(NFL),as a blood marker of neuroaxonal injuries,is significantly associated with the onset of cognitive impairment and affected by the renal function.It can participate in the development of cognitive impairment in T2DM through inflammation,blood-brain barrier breakdown,interaction between microglia and neurons,and Tau protein phosphorylation.
