Background: A preoperative diagnosis to distinguish malignant from benign thyroid nodules accurately and sensitively is urgently important. However, existing clinical methods cannot solve this problem satisfactorily. The aim of this study is to establish a simple, economic approach for preoperative diagnosis in eastern population.

Budding uninhibited by benzimidazoles 1 (BUB1), one of the spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) genes, is a multitask protein kinase required for eukaryotic chromosome segregation. Although BUB1 has been explored in several types of cancer, its biological role and molecular mechanisms in PTC remain unclear.

In this study, the adhesive piezoelectric antibacterial hydrogels with high expansibility, degradability, and adjustable rheological properties were innovatively prepared by a simple assembly process with carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS), tannic acid (TA), carbomer (CBM), and piezoelectric FeWO nanorods. As an exogenous mechanical wave, ultrasound can trigger the piezoelectric effect of FeWO and then effectively augment the generation of reactive oxygen species, exhibiting a superior antibacterial efficiency and preventing wound infection.

Aims: may be used as a candidate marker for TC diagnosis and treatment.
Background: Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most frequent malignancy in endocrine carcinoma, and the incidence has been increasing for decades.
Objective: To understand the molecular mechanism of DTC, we performed next-generation sequencing (NGS) on 79 paired DTC tissues and normal thyroid tissues.
Background: Thyroid carcinoma (TC) is an increasingly common malignancy of endocrine organs, and its most frequently encountered histotype is papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Identifying new potential gene alterations is important for completely elucidating the mechanism of PTC initiation and progression. Thus, we performed whole transcriptome sequence analysis (RNA-seq) on 79 PTC tissue samples and paired adjacent nontumor tissue samples to study the molecular mechanism of TC tumorigenesis and progression further.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important part in tumorigenesis and cancer metastasis and can serve as a potential biosignature for cancer prognosis. However, the use of lncRNA signatures to predict survival in breast carcinoma is yet unreported.
Methods: The lncRNA expression profiles and homologous clinical data of 913 breast carcinoma samples from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), were analyzed to obtain 2,547 differentially expressed lncRNAs.
Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common type of endocrine malignancy in humans, and its relative incidence has increased continuously in recent years. However, the primary molecular mechanisms of thyroid tumorigenesis and progression remain unclear. Papillary TC (PTC) is the most common subtype of TC.

By immunohistochemical method, CD20+ B cells, CD3+ T cells, CD66b+ tumor-associated neutrophils, CD163+ tumor-associated macrophages, and CD57+ natural killer cells were analyzed in consecutive sections of 584 GC tissues and 69 normal adjacent tissues. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses determined the relationship between clinical relevance or prognosis and B cell infiltration.

The long noncoding RNA 389641 () has been found to be associated with many types of cancer. However, the function of in papillary TC (PTC) remains unknown.

CDH3 is highly expressed in many malignancies, and has been proved it could be a serum marker to monitor colorectal cancer, but the CDH3 expression levels in thyroid cancer is still not clear. In this article, we will illuminate the correlation between CDHs expression and thyroid cancer.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the expression of E-cadherin, CD44, and MSH2 in 223 paraffin-embedded stage II and III CRC specimens using immunohistochemistry in the training cohort. Their prognostic values were assessed using Kaplan-Meier curves and univariate and multivariate COX regression models.
Although a few studies have assessed the prognostic value of long noncoding RNA HOTTIP in patients with malignant tumors, the relationship between HOTTIP and clinical outcome of breast cancer remains elusive. The aim of this study is to explore the prognostic significance of HOTTIP in breast cancer patients. A meta-analysis was performed to involve the eligible studies to investigate the association of HOTTIP expression level with outcome in cancer patients.

However, donor site seroma is the most common complication of LD flap reconstruction. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of OK-432 on postoperative drainage and seroma formation in the site of the LD myocutaneous flap donor site.

Objective: To investigate the effect of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) on the expression of ATP-binding cassette superfamily G member 2 (ABCG2) in human colon cancer cell SW480.
Methods: SW480 cells were treated with various concentrations of 5-FU. CCK8 assay was utilized to detect the 5-FU IC50 to SW480 cells.
Background: The occurrence of seroma formation after axillary lymphadenectomy for breast cancer cannot be ignored. Various approaches have been used in an effort to reduce it, but these results are still controversial. We aimed to describe a new method of application of OK-432 (Sapylin, heat-treated Su strain of Streptococcus) to reduce seroma formation after axillary lymphadenectomy for breast cancer and to verify the safety and efficacy of it as a beneficial supplement for conventional surgery.

To achieve its full potential the rate of SLN identification must be as close to 100 percent as possible. In the present study we compared the combination of preoperative lymphoscintigraphy scanning by sulfur colloid labeled with 99 m Technetium, gamma-probe guided surgery, and methylene blue with methylene blue, alone, for sentinel node identification in younger women with unilateral low-risk PTC.

Objective: To assess the advantage and disadvantage of laparoscopic abdomino-perineal resection and open abdominoperineal resection for low rectal cancer.
Methods: Patients with low rectal cancer, collected from July 2003 to April 2006, were randomly divided into laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection group (37 cases) and open abdominoperineal resection group (37 cases). Operation time, number of lymph node removed, intra-operative blood loss, time to pass flatus, time to ambulate, time to discharge, complications, early recurrence, and economical cost were compared between the 2 groups.
