Effects of Multiple Factors on the Compressive Strength of Porous Ceramsite Prepared from Secondary Aluminum Dross.

Aluminum is one of the most in-demand nonferrous metals in the world. The secondary aluminum dross (SAD) produced during aluminum smelting is a type of solid waste that urgently requires disposal. SAD, municipal solid waste incineration fly ash, and bottom slag were used as raw materials to prepare porous ceramsite in a laboratory in this study.

Background: Dysfunction of pancreatic β-cells induced by glucocorticoids contributes to diabetes mellitus development. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been recognized to contain short open reading frames (ORFs) that can be translated into functional small peptides. Here, we investigated whether the short peptide encoded by the lncRNA MIR7-3 host gene (MIR7-3HG) can affect dexamethasone (DEX)-induced β-cell dysfunction.

Can dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI evaluate VEGF expression in brain glioma? An MRI-guided stereotactic biopsy study.

Purpose: To investigate whether pharmacokinetic parameters derived from dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) can be used to evaluate vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in brain glioma based on a point-to-point basis.

Materials And Methods: Forty-seven patients with treatment-naïve glioma received preoperative DCE-MRI before stereotactic biopsy. We histologically quantified VEGF from section of stereotactic biopsies, and co-registered biopsy locations with localized measurements of DCE-MRI parameters including volume transfer coefficient (K), reverse reflux rate constant (Kep), extracellular extravascular volume fraction (Ve) and blood plasma volume (Vp).
