Purpose: Low density of electroencephalogram alpha band power was reported to be associated with perioperative cognitive dysfunction. Few studies have conducted to explore the effects of remimazolam on intraoperative frontal alpha band power spectrum density in older adults. Here, we aimed to explore the impact of remimazolam on intraoperative frontal brain wave alpha band activity and postoperative cognitive function in older adults undergoing lower extremity fractures surgeries.

Elevated PCT at ICU discharge predicts poor prognosis in patients with severe traumatic brain injury: a retrospective cohort study.

Purpose: Disease severity and inflammatory response status are closely related to a poor prognosis and must be assessed in patients with severe traumatic brain injury (STBI) before intensive care unit (ICU) discharge. Whether elevated serum procalcitonin (PCT) levels can predict a poor prognosis in STBI patients before ICU discharge is unclear.

Methods: This retrospective observational cohort study enrolled 199 STBI patients who were in the ICU for at least 48 hours and survived after discharge.

Effect of expressions of tumor necrosis factor α and interleukin 1B on peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer.

Our study aimed to investigate effect of expressions of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukin 1B (IL-1B) on peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer (GC). From June 2012 to June 2014, a total of 60 patients with advanced peritoneal metastasis from GC were collected from Department of Gastrointestinal and Nutriology Surgery at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University. Furthermore, 60 GC patients without peritoneal metastasis were enrolled as controls.

Lack of association between the CDH1 polymorphism and gastric cancer susceptibility: a meta-analysis.

E-Cadherin (CDH1) plays a key role in cell adhesion, which is vital to the normal development and maintenance of cells. Down regulation of CDH1, may lead to dysfunction of the cell-cell adhesion system, resulting in increased susceptibility to tumor development and subsequent tumor cell invasion and metastasis. The CDH1 C-160A polymorphism could decrease its transcription efficiency and may increase susceptibility to cancer development, but its relevance to gastric cancer is generally disputed.
