Background And Aims: Although electroacupuncture (EA) at ST36 has been shown to alleviate visceral hypersensitivity in rats with ulcerative colitis (UC), the exact mechanism remains unknown. This study aims to investigate whether EA can effectively inhibit the activity of enteric glial cells (EGCs) through the adrenergic antiinflammatory pathway and thereby attenuate visceral hypersensitivity in rats with UC in remission.

Materials And Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were continuously fed 5% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) for seven days to establish intestinal inflammation.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disease and is difficult to treat due to its elusive mechanisms. Recent studies have identified a striking association between oligodendrocytes and PD progression, yet how oligodendrocytes regulate the pathogenesis of PD is still unknown. Here, we show that G-protein-coupled receptor 37 (GPR37) is upregulated in oligodendrocytes of the substantia nigra and that prosaposin (PSAP) secretion is increased in parkinsonian mice.

Article Synopsis
  • - Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major global health issue, heavily influenced by inflammation, and the review focuses on the cGAS-STING pathway that plays a key role in these inflammatory responses.
  • - The study discusses the involvement of the cGAS-STING pathway in various complications of DM, including early-stage DM, diabetic gastroenteropathy, diabetic cardiomyopathy, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
  • - It also explores the potential of targeting the cGAS-STING pathway for developing therapeutic agents aimed at improving precision treatment for diabetes and its related complications.

Constipation symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD) seriously reduce the quality of life of patients and aggravate the development of the disease, but current treatment options still cannot alleviate the progress of constipation. Electroacupuncture (EA) is a new method for the treatment of constipation, which can effectively treat the symptoms of constipation in PD patients. However, the specific regulatory mechanisms of EA in the treatment of constipation symptoms in PD remain unclear.

Diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) is a common and devastating complication in patients with diabetes. The mechanisms mediating DNP are not completely elucidated, and effective treatments are lacking. A-fiber sensory neurons have been shown to mediate the development of mechanical allodynia in neuropathic pain, yet the molecular basis underlying the contribution of A-fiber neurons is still unclear.

Background: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is one of the proteins that contributes to the survival, growth, maintenance of neurons, and plays important roles in the pathophysiology of depression. It has been reported that depression is closely associated with the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris disease. But, there is no report of serum BDNF levels in patients with acne vulgaris.
