Melatonin is widely observed in the female reproductive system and regulates trophoblast cell functions, but its effects on embryo implantation and underlying mechanisms are not well understood. By constructing an in vitro embryo culture model, we found that melatonin enhances migration and implantation in human and mouse trophoblast cells. It also significantly promoted HTR-8/SVneo cell proliferation, inhibited apoptosis, enhanced migration, and mitigated oxidative damage.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a leading cause of end-stage liver disease. MASLD and liver fibrosis are associated with cardiometabolic risk factors and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) while being affected by dietary/exercise patterns and social determinants of health (SDOH). However, previous studies have not assessed in conjunction exercise, diet, SDOH, and HRQOL in patients with MASLD.

Electroencephalography alpha-band (8-13 Hz) activity following spatial cues during visual attention has been extensively studied. However, its functional role remains unclear, possibly due to individual differences or contributing factors. Our recent study showed that post-cue alpha activity depended on baseline alpha by splitting participants based on their median baseline alpha, which, however, ignored the difference in baseline alpha within the subgroups.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials hold transformative potential for next-generation electronics. The integration of high dielectric constant (k) dielectrics onto 2D semiconductors, while maintaining their pristine properties by low-defect-density interfaces, has proven challenging and become one performance bottleneck of their practical implementation. Here, we report a wet-chemistry-based method to fabricate amorphous, transferable high-k (42.

Diabetic wounds have garnered significant attention due to excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), persistent inflammation, and vascular and neural impairments that hinder effective healing. ROS-scavenging hydrogels with phenylborate bonds possess inherent anti-ROS and anti-inflammatory properties, while human mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (hMSC-exos) offer additional anti-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic, and neurogenic benefits, presenting a promising strategy to address these challenges. This study introduces a novel ROS-scavenging hydrogel loaded with hMSC-exos, which exhibits strong adhesion and self-healing capabilities.

The Ser/Thr kinase RAF, particularly BRAF isoform is a dominant target of oncogenic mutations and many mutations have been identified in various cancers. However, how these mutations except V600E evade the regulatory machinery of RAF protein and hence trigger its oncogenicity remains unclear. In this study, we used mutagenesis, peptide affinity assay, immunoprecipitation, immunoblot, and complementary split luciferase assay as well as mouse xenograft tumour model to investigate how the function of RAF is cooperatively regulated by Cdc37/Hsp90 chaperones and 14-3-3 scaffolds and how this regulatory machinery is evaded by prevalent non-V600 mutations.

Patients with diabetes are at increased risk of HBV infection; however, the effects of HBV infection and anti-HBV therapy on the management of type 1 diabetes (T1D), type 2 diabetes (T2D), and latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) remain unclear. From 2016 to 2023, we recruited a multicenter cohort of 355 HBV-infected inpatients, including 136 with T1D, 140 with T2D, and 79 with LADA. The control group included 525 HBV-uninfected inpatients, comparing 171 with T1D, 204 with T2D and 150 with LADA.

Single-crystal Au(111), renowned for its chemically inert surface, long-range "herringbone" reconstruction, and high electrical conductivity, has long served as an exemplary template in diverse fields, , crystal epitaxy, electronics, and electrocatalysis. However, commercial Au(111) products are high-priced and limited to centimeter sizes, largely restricting their broad applications. Herein, a low-cost, high-reproducible method is developed to produce 4 in.

Introduction: Social determinants of health are key factors driving disease progression. In type 2 diabetes there is limited literature on how distal or intermediate factors (eg, those at the neighborhood level) influence cause-specific mortality or liver disease outcomes.

Methods: This was a single-center retrospective study of patients with type 2 diabetes seen at an integrated healthcare system in the United States.

Patients with Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) have increased critical illness and mortality during coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19). The aim of our study was to develop a predictive model for the occurrence of critical illness and mortality in COVID-19 patients with DKA utilizing machine learning. Blood samples and clinical data from 242 COVID-19 patients with DKA collected from December 2022 to January 2023 at Second Xiangya Hospital.

The stabilities and sustained-release properties of citral are significant for foods. Herein, bacterial cellulose (BC) was innovatively reported for adsorption and sustained-release of citral via gas-phase adsorption technique, and the adsorption mechanism was disclosed. BC was prepared from tobacco stem waste extract (TSWE), and better adsorption capacity (124.

Atrazine (ATR) is an endocrine disruptor known for its persistence and mobility. While the diffuse characteristics and potential risks of ATR have been extensively studied, its transregional migration and degradation characteristics have received less attention. In this study, a modified mass balance approach considering the diffuse source (DS), tributaries, water resource usage, degradation, adsorption, and evaporation was developed based on the traditional mass balance framework and field sampling to estimate the DS fluxes of ATR in a large river basin.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent form of liver tumor, characterized by restricted therapeutic options and typically low long-term survival rates. Recently, immunotherapy has revolutionized HCC treatment, making the tumor microenvironment (TME) a research focus. Radiomics is increasingly crucial in HCC clinical decisions, offering advanced tools for TME characterization and prognosis assessment.

Research Question: Is it possible to predict blastocyst quality, embryo chromosomal ploidy, and clinical pregnancy outcome after single embryo transfer from embryo developmental morphokinetic parameters?

Design: The morphokinetic parameters of 1011 blastocysts from 227 patients undergoing preimplantation genetic testing were examined. Correlations between the morphokinetic parameters and the quality of blastocysts, chromosomal ploidy, and clinical pregnancy outcomes following the transfer of single blastocysts were retrospectively analyzed.

Results: The morphokinetic parameters of embryos in the high-quality blastocyst group were significantly shorter than those in the low-quality blastocyst group (p < 0.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by T cell-mediated pancreatic β cell loss, resulting in lifelong absolute insulin deficiency and hyperglycaemia. Environmental factors are recognized as a key contributor to the development of T1D, with the gut serving as a primary interface for environmental stimuli. Recent studies have revealed that the alterations in the intestinal microenvironment profoundly affect host immune responses, contributing to the aetiology and pathogenesis of T1D.
